Being from the UK, unless you have oodles of money, you have close neighbours. Most of ours are lovely, though I wish our upstairs neighbour hadn't taken up his carpet in favour of laminate flooring, he can be so noisy :(I love watching the birds, though the ones here get really stressed by a horrible cat who moved in across the road. This awful cat went after my bunny Bob, tries to come into our home and once stalked me on its belly and tried to take ME down! I loathe and detest it and the feeling is evidently mutual.
Yep, we have neighbors! I also have to hang my laundry to dry for the first time in my life (in Asheville). But, our clothesline faces the backyard, where there is not a neighbor, and we have two clotheslines... I always put the undies on the inside line lolzzzz It seems so prudish. I don't know why I care!
Ha! Yep neighbours...they can make or break a place. No clotheslines...but lots of cigar smoking and some partying. Overall though they are great. It has taken years to get one of them to be friendly but my bribes of homemade cookies seem to have finally won them over. I know our neighbours hope we never move because we make no noise and are rarely ever seen. bisousSuzanne
We also have lots of 'boyds' that visit our garden which I don't mind at all and my Mom feeds them regularly. As for our human neighbours we only smile and wave ~ We have lived in our house for 28 years and the neighbors have changed a lot so we don't get involved with them. Fortunately we cannot see any of their washing hanging on the line.
Nice undies! I feel weird about letting my undies flap around on a line, so I usually dry them on a folding rack in a hidden spot. I'm bounded on three sides by neighbors---we are tightly packed in and sometimes it can suck (children shrieking under my window at 7 am---anal retentive neighbor angrily snipping off every tiny piece of shrubbery that even remotely comes across the property line) but what can you do? My dream house is a house where I can just kinda see my neighbors off in the distance....
LOL-oh dear. I prefer boyds to undies. I have lived most of my life in a house with a large garden so neighbours weren't terrible visible behind all the trees and fences and climbing roses. Now that I live in a condominium I am closer to neighbours and have mixed feelings about it. They are all nice people but a few are smokers and I loathe cigarette smoke. Can you plant something that will block the view of the clothesline?xo
LOL at the undies ! I live in a building, in a flat, and the people living downstairs are really nasty and unwelcoming...I had an argument with one of them (a girl) and since then they don't even greet me when they see me. People upstairs are noisy, on the other way...I love my flat but often I wish I had bought an independent house instead of going to live in a tall building ! Neighbours...most of the time they annoy you ! I'd rather see their undies drying in the sun than seeing them LOL Fashion and Cookies
We live in a block of four houses - we have no neighbour on our left (just a green field) and then we have nice neighbours. We don't really know them well but they are kind and helpful when you need them!x
I love birds and watching them - on weekends I usually take bananas with me to the weekend home and set them on a stump so birds will come.My neighbors.. well my next door neighbor is a lovely elderly woman who i cannot complaint about. However the ones above me are like a herd of buffalos and the one below me is a French chimney.
We back onto parklands and we only have a neighbour on one side of our house, we are very lucky. I love waking up in the morning and listening to the birds outside and if we have heavy rain when the rain stops it's like we live in the Amazon Jungle with all the lovely sounds of nature we hear.
Normally I like birds but this morning they were chirping early and it woke me up well before my alarm! I've got a bunch of crazy neighbors though, so I still prefer the birds over them. :) -SharonThe Tiny Heart
Ack!!! Who does that? Sorry, lady, but no one wants to see your panties. People are strange. :/ But I love my birdie neighbors too.
Sorry about the view!
People still hang laundry out to dry? I've always enjoyed birds. I used to feed them. Then we got bird dogs. I felt bad luring birds to their death so we stopped feeding the birds. 😔 This year, a family of Chimney Swifts moved into our chimney. Now we get to listen to bird sounds late into the evening, which is rather interesting.
One of my favorite things is to hear birds chirping, whether it be through my windows, a walk in the neighborhood or through the woods. Just maybe not at 5am as it frequently was at that last residential home we lived in. hahaYou do have colorful neighbors! :) We have a young couple in the house behind us and a young man who lives upstairs from us in our small apartment complex. He is our only adjoining neighbor. But they are all the most quiet young people I could ever imagine. We never hear a peep out of any of them!
My inlaws are pretty familiar with the neighbors. One of my neighbors is actually my ex-high school math teacher. One who nearly failed me despite my extravagant studying and extra math tutoring. So personally I'm not too hot on getting to know my neighbors. My mom's neighbors are really nice, but I don't know if I'd be the type to knock on someone's door.I do like my birdie neighbors though. We had a family of robins nest in our porch this summer. The babies were so cute!
We have some great neighbors...and some really not so great. The not so great ones hurl insults at each other up and down the street all hours of the night, and I'm pretty sure "stuff" goes down there; the cops are there on a regular basis. We used to find it mildly entertaining, but now it's gotten plain old. Just thinking about seeing their undies on display, though, makes me feel a little bile rising in my throat...your picture made me laugh, though. Just remember your neighbors could be so much worse. They could be mine. ;)
LOL Oh man, this is going to be Kyle and I soon. We just bought a clothesline! I am not sure if I could do the undies though, it is not that I have a fear of what my neighbors might think (our area isn't that classy), it is just that air-dried undies don't sound very comfortable. Awesome post!
That is a funny picture! LOL! It's an underwear rainbow. Yes, I have neighbors. We actually just got two new ones. The most recent ones are right next door and I can't wait to meet them! They've got pretty big shoes to fill...my old neighbors were pretty awesome ;)xo Azu
Where I'm from, hanging clothes outside is completely normal. Pretty much everyone who has a garden or a yard does it. Even people living in flats hang their clothes on their balconies. I lived in the US for a while and was really surprised when people got weirded out when I wanted to hang my clothes in the backyard...
