Sampling Blue

When I wear boy's clothes, blue is my favorite color.  I wear it all the time.  When I wear girl's clothes though, I never wear blue.  The color doesn't occur to me.  I don't avoid blue; it just doesn't appeal to me as much as pinks and purples.

Browsing a thrift-store, I saw a blue top that spoke to me.  "Ally!  Over here!"  For $2, I figured I'd experiment.  I like how it looks on me.

Truth be told, I wanted to dress up today.  It's a Saturday after a hard week and I needed to relax.  Conceiving the outfit, laying it out, putting on makeup and dressing up were the right medicine.  Feminine activity makes me feel good.  I don't know if dressing up makes you feel good since it's more routine in your life, but it works like a charm for me.

What relaxes you?

  2. Lovely top Ally and you're wearing it beautifully. It's such a pretty outfit and you look indeed very happy. I don't know abut relaxing but dressing up, trying out some new makeup's, new pairings just make me feel good too. Even painting my nails with a new color makes me feel good.
    Have a fabulous weekend Ally

  4. You did a beautiful job putting together this blue vision. The colors in the top are some of my favorites. I love the gold skirt and the addition of the dangling sash at the waist. I'm glad you found relaxation in the creation and execution of this pretty look. I don't so much enjoy the "process" as the results in how I feel about myself once it's completed and (in my eyes) successful. Some days I feel like a dowdy slob, haha, so when I get myself fixed up a bit it's a nice improvement. :)

  5. Well done on your 'blue experiment' ... Blue used to be my favourite colour (now it is burnt orange).

My ultimate relaxation is scrapbooking ~ Unlike you, clothes stress me out!

  6. You should definitely continue to wear blue, it looks great on you. I'm loving those shoes by the way! Clothing stresses me out a little bit but I love browsing through vintage clothing/accessories!

  7. I like that top, but those shoes are just gorgeous. I normally read, clean or do a jigsaw to relax.

  8. Blue though this outfit is in colour, there's certainly nothing blue about it's chipper, delightful mood. I think that this shades of blue suit you well, Ally. They don't strike me, in this context, as being any more masculine than other colours and I think they actually compliment your skin and eye colours very becomingly.

  10. I got really excited because I thought that was a dress, but I love that you can split them up and wear the top and skirt separately. You look AMAZING in that color. That is just a great color for you, and I love how that yellow necklace pops.

  11. I love blue! Getting dressed up is so fun! One of my fav things to do ever is get ready to go out with a girlfriend. Figuring out what we're going to wear... Do hair & make-up :)

  12. Love the top - that was a good find! I think dressing up can definitely be good medicine - sometimes just taking a little extra effort - a nice dress, makeup, cute shoes - can make the day seem so much brighter

  13. I relax by propping my feet up and browsing Pinterest. I have shoes very similar to that but without the bow and strap.

  15. I definitely agree, dressing up does wonders for the mind. If in a slump, it always helps me when I put myself together visually.

  16. Love the top! (and those shoes ;) haha) But I'm thinking the tights just aren't quite doing it for me. You like color a lot more than I do, though, so maybe it's just personal preference.

For me, relaxing is about un-dressing, haha. I come home, fling my bra across the room and settle into some comfy PJs. Or I'll don my climbing gear and get a few sends in--that clears my mind, but gets the rest of my body pretty wound up :)

  17. I love it that clothes talk to you--they talk to me too! :) Whenever I'm having a rough week, I take a super long, extra hot bath with candles and scented oils. I can feel the tension melting away.

I take really long walks, or sometimes watch Gilmore Girls.
