Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I hope you have a wonderful holiday.  Are you seeing family or friends?

The news is reporting bad weather around the country which is making travel difficult.  I hope you don't face that.

Many people will shop this long weekend.  I might do a little, but nothing serious.  I'm not sure why people get up early Friday to stand in line and combat crowds.  It seems unpleasant.  And I certainly don't understand why people would ruin their holiday by shopping on Thanksgiving.

What are your shopping plans?

  1. Happy Thanksgiving, my dear Ally! I always take US Thanksgiving day and the Friday after off (to watch football!), so I will be enjoying the long weekend too!

There might be a little shopping for me... :)

  2. Happy Thanksgiving!
We don't celebrate it over here in Finland, but I hope you have a great one. (And yeah, avoid shopping just before any food-filled holiday.. ;0!)

  3. Happy Thanksgiving! this year I stayed home, but last year i hit the mall - this time i am happily skipping it all! Seems like holidays now, whichever they may be, equal shopping. Gosh! I don't even have places or opportunites to wear all the things i buy. I'm just having a nice Thanksgiving dinner with friends, hope you have a good time.

  7. Happy thanksgiving to you too. We drove 6+ hours to northern CA to spend the holiday with family at a rental beach house. No shopping plans. Sipping wine siting on the beach watching kids run up and down the giant sand dunes wth their cousins. :)

  8. have a great thanksgiving, A!
while i may have outgrown my black friday shopping, seems my daughter is picking it up. she made me commit to taking her and her friends :(
good thing about it is that, since i'm not pressured to shop, i just grab a coffee (and my iphone apps) and stand in line while they shop.

  9. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm glad I won't have to worry about you getting trampled to death at a Walmart Black Friday event. People are crazy to go out and stand in line to shop.

We usually have Boxing Day here in Canada, which is the day after Christmas that most places have their big sales, but due to the overwhelming US influence lately they have been offering up Black Friday sales as well. I will be staying home though. I can't stand crowds.

    bisous
    Suzanne

    1. It's funny you mention that Walmart tragedy -- it took place here on Long Island where I live, only 20 minutes away from me.

  10. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

We unfortunately do not celebrate this holiday in South Africa and also do not have big sales on the day after Christmas ... however even if we did I would choose to stay home as 90% of my shopping is done and all of that is wrapped and ready to go (already delivered some of my gifts). My son would, however, LOVE to experience Black Friday! LOL!!!

  11. Happy Thanksgiving Ally! If the choice is shopping or more gooey pumpkin cake, then the gooey pumpkin cake wins out. We are planning on a low key day and teaching our sweetie-pies how to play Candyland and Chutes and Ladders.

  14. happy thankgiving ally !!!!!
you may know - no thanksgiving around here. and with the shopping - i really don´t like shopping! much more on days when all the masses go to it. but to what i look forward are the x-mas markets in our region. some of them are really cute and "gemütlich". especially the the "green/ecological" ones. with local products. this are the places were i shop the few x-mas presents i need. and drinking hot spiced eco-wine :-)

  16. Happy thanksgiving!

I did the usual Mom visit. She's got double-pneumonia so it was a sort of rough year.

Otherwise I plan on hiding out until my next therapy appointment, and then the holidays. I don't shop after Halloween if I can help it! I truly dislike the crowds, and the student debt is looming for next semester.

  17. Happy belated Thanksgiving! I took a much needed break from blogging for a day and enjoyed our family time. It was SO nice! Love how you said your purple toe nails made you feel pretty this week. No Black Friday shopping for me, never have, never will. Now online shopping is a different story. :)

  19. I tried to do a bit of online Black Friday shopping but all I was interrupted when I was called into the kitchen to help make post-Thanksgiving enchiladas. I wasn't too happy about that... I was finding some dang good deals. Oh well. There's always Cyber Monday! Hope your Thanksgiving was awesome!
