Creating the costume helped me improve my sewing skills and learn about something useful called fusible tape. I also made my necklace! Caroline wears a distinctive necklace in every episode, so I went to Michaels, bought beads and supplies, and re-created the way it looks.
We're going to a party with three girlfriends next Saturday so there'll be plenty of action photos of our group. Let me entice you with a simple picture of what the costume looks like. I tried to reproduce the outfit from the TV show as accurately as I could. What do you think?
What are you dressing up as this year? Don't forget to send in a photo of yourself and I'll post it on our virtual Halloween Party.
A very convincing look and I am so impressed that you are sewing. Too often, I think i should get out our machine and then, I don't.ReplyDelete
This look reminds me of a waitress at Nicol's Diner in the KC area. Several years ago, DH and I stopped for a quick lunch there and were served by a male waitress dressed as a woman. It was uncanny as she rang up our bill and counted out our change. She was built so much like my DH, tall and slender. It was only the sinews in the arm that gave her away.
I'm tickled pink. I love the whole thing. And you've reminded me I must get to Michael's soon.ReplyDelete
Gorgeous!! Your hair looks amazing!!!! The basic design of the uniform (a shirtwaist dress) looks really good on you. I'm sure you will have a glorious time at the party and I'm looking forward to the group shots!ReplyDelete
Best costumes ever!! I love that show.. such a good idea. And you HAVE to have both characters, im so excited about it. I wish I had thought of it aha. You look great!ReplyDelete
I'm not familiar with the tv show, but you look great. I love these vivid colors. Your lip color, illuminating smile, and neck bling add to the vibrancy of the look.ReplyDelete
Awesome costume! You did a great job making it. I had just about talked myself out of making a Maleficent costume but maybe I can make that horn hat yet...thanks for the inspiration!ReplyDelete
That turned out great!ReplyDelete
Ah that's fantastic! You look great! Also the necklace is very clever.ReplyDelete
Cool. I admire people who have the skill and patience to make their clothes! :)ReplyDelete

Oh wow, this costume looks awesome! You did a great job! And I hope you'll have loads of fun at the party (and also hope you'll post some pics here!).ReplyDelete
THAT is one fabulous costume...and you know I am loving that necklace ! Kudos to your very successful creativity my dear!ReplyDelete
I also wanted to let you know I was thinking of you this weekend when I had to choose whether to get on a very small boat on the ocean. i was filled with quite a dose of fear...but I remembered your comment about joy being on the other side...and you were SO right! The boat ride was one of the very best of experiences! Thank you for sharing such encouraging wisdom!
Omg this is AWESOME!! Gahhh I wish I had your talent. I could never put together a costume this precise.ReplyDelete
you look fabulous!!! I love it! :-) I love that you did a button front, too. I'm SO SCARED of button fronts and plackets and button holes... all of those button related words. Except cute as a button. Which you are.ReplyDelete
That is the BEST costume EVER!!!ReplyDelete

That looks AMAZING! I can't believe you MADE that!ReplyDelete
You totally hit the mark! The dress is perfect! The necklace is such a perfect recreation of Caroline's. I love that show. Are you going to wear a name tag? I can't remember if they wear them or not.ReplyDelete
Yes, we're wearing name-tags. They aren't finished yet.Delete
amazing! so alike photos of those ladies!ReplyDelete
Beautiful work, Ally - you are incredibly multi-talented. Thanks for the preview, and hope you and Robin have a wonderful Halloween!ReplyDelete
Love, love, LOVE this! You duplicated Caroline's necklace perfectly! I love this costume idea! I have not come up with anything yet this year, but there's still time, you just never know. :)ReplyDelete
Aww this turned out so so great! Totally identifiable even by somebody who doesn't watch the show, I think. I've seen commercials, but that's it. Omg that turned out so great. I need to get my pictures to you!ReplyDelete
Wow, Ally, I think you absolutely nailed it. But I'd like a close-up of that amazing necklace, please :)ReplyDelete
Alas, I was felled by The Crud, and didn't get to go to the Halloween party last night, which I'd been looking forward to for weeks. I do always wear some kind of ears to work every Halloween, so maybe I'll get good pics of those :P
So cute! Do you have a skinny metallic belt? That would complete the look; Caroline wears one with her uniform constantly.ReplyDelete
I LOVE this costume idea. So clever!
You are so attentive! Yes, I noticed that on the show and am looking for one to add to the costume.Delete
Am I missing something? What show? Who are Caroline and Max?ReplyDelete
It's a cute costume, anyway... I love that you are getting more into sewing! I understand that it's even possible to take sewing classes. The adult version of the home ec from high school. Did you take it, or were you just shunted off to shop?
"2 Broke Girls" on CBS on Monday nights (tonight!) at 8:30 pm.Delete
I want to take sewing classes to improve my skills.
LOVE it! It came out so well!ReplyDelete
Btw, I prefer you with long hair. ;)
Great costume! I don't really watch the show, but this looks pretty accurate based on what I've seen. Also, have you thought about doing a tutorial for the necklace? It's so cute, and I'd love to see how you did it!ReplyDelete
Wow! Looks great! I can't believe you sewed it yourself :)ReplyDelete
I love it.ReplyDelete
LOVE IT! i watch the show!!
You are going to be the hit of the party :)
