Glamour

Have you ever wanted to look glamorous?  Really, super-glamorous?  I have.  Often.

I've dreamed of wearing an elegant outfit with sparkly jewelry.  An outfit that would fit in at a fancy Hollywood party.

Tonight, I put on a long black dress -- with feathers!  Matching heels and long velvet gloves.  Chandelier earrings and, best of all, a new cuff bracelet made of beads.

What do you think?  Have you ever worn anything like this?

    1. Be still my heart -- to get approval from you, my fashion idol, means everything. Thank you, Sheila.

  3. Oh, wow, Ally, you made my whole Monday! How strikingly beautiful you look, and very sexy, which just proves, again, that more IS less :o

  5. You're red carpet ready, Ally! I've never worn anything like that, the dressiest dress I wore was for my wedding. And I only had it on for maybe an hour.

  6. You look fabulous, Ally! We both have only had opportunities to get dressed like this for proms for school. Nothing recently, but it sure is fun getting all gussied up :) Heather & Kayla

  7. Part of my Secret Single Behaviour (you have to have seen that Sex and the City episode!!), was getting all fancied up and then just hanging out.

  8. I LOVE the feather detailing (although am hoping they are faux, even more chic!) and the bangle cuff is so pretty! I LOVE dressing up and have a few black tie dresses that have only been worn once- if only I socialized in fancy schmancy circles!

    1. Believe it or not, I bought the dress at a thrift-shop for $8 -- so, of course, the feathers are faux.

  9. Love this! The feathers are amazing and really make the outfit special.

I love dressing up. I can't say I've done it many times, but give me a reason and I'll put on something smashing.

  10. Foxy lady!! I love the feathers at the neckline! I love the shape of this too! Like Megan said, you are red carpet ready, you heading to the Oscars??

I love to dress up, but I get so few chances these days!

PS - I gave you an award on my blog today. <3

  11. I have never worn anything like that but I would love to, and have a place to wear it. I don't think I've ever done anything fancy enough to call for me to wear a dress like that but there's something so luscious about black crushed velvet and boa feathers. You really do look so elegant.

  12. This is perhaps one my favourite outfits on you, in particular the first photo. Your legs look *phe.no.me.nal* and you have a waist! Not only that, but your smile is radiant! Bravo!!!

  14. Your poses exude such femininity. The turn of the wrist. The bend of the knee. Pure sexy elegance. This feathered dress...the gloves, jewelry, and heels...are all movie star perfect. You're beautiful, Ally.

    1. It's wonderful we share the love of dressing up. I wish I could say I was heading out to a fancy party but, sadly, I had nowhere to go except my couch to watch TV...

  19. Hubba Hubba! You look beautiful. Well done, lady. The top photo especially is a knockout.

You look so tall, slim and yes, glam. The way that the cut and feathers complement your shoulder shape is just lovely.

This is absolutely one of your top 3 looks.

  21. The cuff over the long gloves makes this outfit look like it is straight out of vintage Hollywood! I love it. "Glamour" for me is a cocktail dress, I've never worn anything this fancy before :)

  24. You look so ladylike in this, and polished. Really, really nice. I can understand, seeing your pic, why people get so obsessed about the 'LBD' :-)

  25. I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. You are the picture of femininity. I will say what my Grandfather always said when I thought I looked particularly pretty. Hubba Hubba! (But I see someone else already said that too!

  26. So elegant! I haven't worn something this glamorous since prom. But where are you going? I imagine you wearing this to the opera, dinner at the White House, or the Oscars. Really, there needs to be more reasons to wear ultra glamorous clothes in everyday life.

  27. Whoa, Ally - that is a showstopper of a glamorous ensemble! What an incredibly elegant look. I adore getting dressed up, but have never done full-out glamour such as this. Beautiful!

  28. Are you going to the opera or the ballet, my dear? It's perfect... not one misstep!

Oh... it's been ages since I've had the chance to get truly glamorous. Pre-blog, for sure! One of these days, I need to scan and/or download my old pics.

I wonder if I will get to be glamorous again... or had that passed me by?
