Ever Seen A Purple Leopard?

What do you think of this dress?  Would you wear it?  Should I?

As always, your comments are eagerly requested.

  1. This dress is wild!!! I'd never dare to wear it (and as I mentioned I have a problem with asymmetrical things...) but it looks great on you! And the heart-shaped belt buckle is just cute! And also, great earrings.

Thanks for your sweet comment earlier!

  2. In all honestly, I'm not a fan. I think it's very young. Do you ever go to H&M? I think you should try this skirt http://www.hm.com/us/product/94889?article=94889-F or a skirt with a similar cut. This skirt is just as wonderful in person, I'm going to pick one up for myself tonight! Plus you can't beat the price.

  3. I love non-neutral/non-natural leopard. Some of my favorite shoes are blue leopard!

I like this dress - I probably wouldn't wear it because I also have a problem with asymmetrical things - I don't like the special bras they require and my broad shoulders/chest make them look wonkers.

I think it looks great on you though - although I'd probably forego the heart-belt just because it's a wee cutesy. But, that's just my personal preference - it's not a style issue. ;-)

  4. Ahh, there's that belt that we all love so much!! I love it even more paired with this dress...it ads just the right amount of playful to tone down the sexy a tad. What a fun dress...the color, the print, and the cut. For me, this has got to be one of the best outfits you have ever put together, top to bottom.

  5. LOVEEEEE! Love! So cute! The one-shoulder style is hard to pull off, and it is VERY flattering on you!

  6. What a cute dress. I have never seen an animal print in that color before. Great find and the belt is just too cute for words.

  7. Love the purple leopard! We both agree though that the belt is just a tad bit too cutesy for this dress. A patent leather black belt with a bow would really look great! Oh, and we LOVE those heels and the pretty silver bracelet.

  8. I love the dress - the belt is a bit on the tacky side, though. I would ditch that. Otherwise, yes, I would wear this!

  9. I love this dress. :) Today at Forever 21, I saw so many leopard print dresses that were adorable. They are great to add a blazer to, change around accessories and/or dress up/down.

You look great. I'm loving the bright colour on you.

  10. I actually like it. I was leery when you mentioned pink asymmetrical leopard but it is cute!

  11. Oh you are wearing one of my favorite colors! You look like pink & Purple leopard Barbie! I think you need blonde hair Ally.

  12. I actually like the shape of the dress on you. It's really flattering to your shape by adding to your curves. The belt - eh not so much. Stick with a sleek black belt. Playing with loud prints means toning down other accessories that might 'fight' for outfit dominance.

I wouldn't wear leopard print period. But that's just personal style preference. I wore a tiger-like print today, and only own that because of a swap! I tend to skew more to reptilian prints.. But I do think if you like the dress, then wear it with confidence.

  13. i think its a bit too young. id try wearing it with a black sweater on top so that it looks like a skirt. that might make it a bit more age appropriate. although my visual merchandising teacher says"what the hell is age appropriate?! if you look hot then rock it!"

haha so. i say if u like it then thats what matters!

  14. Thanks, guys. I appreciate your feedback.

Yes, I knew going in that the dress is age-inappropriate (I hate that phrase) and, yes, I knew the belt was too much (obviously) -- but I figured: if not me, then who? I'm free to dress like a crazy person 'cause I'm not going out in public like you do. So this is really more of a fashion experiment than a choice for real-life wear.

That said, as an experiment, it works better than I expected. Several of you confirm this when you say "actually..." and then give some begrudging compliment you didn't think you were going to say.

Because of the asymmetry of the dress, I didn't think a necklace would work so, instead, I chose dangly earrings. I like that decision.

And, just to further explain myself, did you know I already had TWO pairs of purple tights?! The dark ones work much better with this; they don't compete with the dress.

  15. "I'm free to dress like a crazy person 'cause I'm not going out in public like you do". I'm using a very similar logic to explain why I'm thinking of wearing a slightly crazy dress to a wedding out of province where I barely know anyone.

If you love it, that's all that matters. I would like to see how you'd style the belt in a more sedate manner. I've avoided bright belts not knowing how to make them work

  16. I love it on you, you look so edgy and happy in it and if I saw you out I'd make a point of coming over and telling you how good you looked.
I can't fault how you've chosen to wear it, a stylish person takes ownership of their clothes allowing personality to shine through, a less savvy person would let the dress do the talking rather than the person wearing it. x

  17. The shape and color of that dress really suits you. The earrings were a great choice instead of a necklace. You have a real gift for styling. I agree with others that the belt could be different to help the overall look. But my feeling when I saw this on you was wheeeeeeeeee. Is that a feeling? I love it. You look amazing.

  18. I dress way too prudishly to wear an outfit like this. But I would wear the purple tights this fall.

I hate the term "age-inappropriate" too. That way of thinking is too limiting. I also dress a bit more sexy when I'm not leaving the house.

  19. I think the dress looks great on you! Agree that necklaces are tricky with this sort of neckline, so good call on the earrings. I think black gossamer tights would have worked too, but like the pink motif you put together. :)

  20. This is cute :)
I would only switch the belt to a black one.

  21. That's a crazy dress. It's colorful and fun, but I don't think it's you. Not that you aren't colorful and fun, just because I don't think those colors are very complementary for you. But that's just my opinion. And you know I am no fashion diva!

  22. Love the dress, don't like the belt. Wear it, but find a more adult belt maybe? You look great in it :)
