I'm In Love...

... with a skirt!

Over the holidays I was browsing in Target when I thought, while I'm here I should check out the sale-rack in the Women's Department.  Damage to our wallets always follows the thought, "while I'm here...".

My eye caught a faux-leather black skirt with cute diagonal zipper-pockets.  Yes, it's a Small which normally would be impossible for me to fit into but (1) it stretches and (2) I have boy-hips.  For the price ($12), I figured I'd take the chance.  I always wanted a pencil-skirt with a little sass.  This one has that.  If you want to tell me the skirt is too tight, I know that -- I'm just happy I can squeeze into it.

So here is my first outfit of the year.  I like it.  Elegant and mature, but sassy too.  Simple and graphic, but bold as well.  A combination of elements that meld into my personal style.

What do you think??

  1. What a find! It's beautiful and fits you like a soft leather glove. I love the blouse, stockings and shoes you're wearing with it. You could maybe have a back up profession as a stylist if you ever want to quit your day job. ;)
This outfit is smashing! Way to kick off the New Year, Ally!

  13. This is total 21st century outfit perfection in my books, Ally. Classy, chic, becoming, feminine, alluring, and more than a little bit gorgeous from head-to-stylish-toe. I really see you growing into your own on the style front and putting your knowledge of ladies attire to work here. Inspiring look!!!

  14. Wowzers, you got to love thos stockings! So sassy and chic, I think I need to get a pair, too!
And I don't think the skirt is too tight, skirts like these need to be figure-hugging!

    Have a great New Year,

  16. WOW I was excited to see you were in love, a wee bit disappointed it was not a juicy romance and then very impressed with the gorgeous outfit and how well you look in it. Is that skirt as soft and buttery as it looks? Can you sit down in it or must you just stand around looking stunning? What a pretty blouse you have paired with it and such straight stocking seams! So impressed! Happy New Year Ally!

    1. I've had romance and let me tell you, fashion-lust is better. :-)

Yes, the skirt is soft and buttery. I can move in it because of its stretchiness; if it were real leather, I'd be a mummy. Happy New Year to you, too.

  19. My friend, I think you have definitely found your look! This skirt looks very sexy, and is so sophisticated paired with the button up shirt. I have to say that pencil skirts suit you better than most people born women. You look AMAZING! And happy!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

  24. That's a bad-ass skirt! Reminds me of one I had in the '80s, which I wore to the Men Without Hats concert. Which was one CRAZY night.

    Good times.

  25. There is nothing like a good leather(ette) skirt!! I had a thrifted one I wore lots before I couldn't fit it anymore. Real leather unfortunately, does NOT stretch.

  30. I think you styled it super vavavoom! I love a leather pencil skirt and I am missing mine at this round stage of pregnancy. Plus, seemed stockings with a long sleeve button up balance this perfectly. I don't know if you could get away with exactly that look in an office, but probably pretty close. I'm sure I'd try anyway!
