Our Legal System

You can't make this stuff up.

A young woman named Megan works for the City of St. Paul, Minnesota. She was driving a city van recently when she accidentally hit a parked car. The car happened to be her own.

She is now going to sue the city, arguing that a negligent city-worker (herself) caused damage to her personal vehicle. "Because I was working for the city and driving the city vehicle, I feel they are responsible for paying for the damage done to my car," says Megan.

The story was widely reported and can be seen here.

What do you think of Megan's claim?  In New York, we say she has chutzpah.

  2. Ridiculous!!! Well, the damages should come out of her own pay. X,

  4. It never cease to amaze me how some people fail to take responsibility for their own mistakes. If you ask me, she's making a mockery of the legal system and could set a dangerous precedence if she were to win the case, as there's likely no shortage of other folks who would love to follow in her footsteps and have someone else quite literally pay for their own (self inflicted) mistakes/negligence.

    1. I just put another person on position of damaged car owner and this person would've sue the city so why can't she do that? anyway, she'll pay something for the accident (but I dunno how it according to US law) but repairing her car by herself would've been way bigger

  9. I hate how people feel they have the right to sue. Its not a right nor a privilege, it is for serious matters not because you are a major f*kwit...She should be fired for being an idiot and hitting her own vehicle. She deserves to have totaled her car. It makes me angry..stupid people!
