Turning It Around

I hate whining and I'm sorry if my last post came off that way.  Part of my bad attitude was from being sick with a cold; physical discomfort pushes me into negative emotions.  I realize now that feeling crummy affected my mood.

Generally my attitude in life is to seek joy, no matter how distant it looks.  I can't emphasize enough how grateful I am to you (the blogging community) for the warm embrace you've given me the past four years.  My lifelong dream of expressing myself has largely come true; I rejoice in that, and shouldn't bemoan what isn't on my plate yet.

So I'm spinning my attitude around.  Thank you for being here.  I savor the pleasures of zipping up a slinky dress, slipping into heels that make my legs look better, and enjoying the process of creating outfits in my head.

Today, I put together an ensemble with happiness as its goal.  Constructing the outfit, pondering its pieces, putting on the clothes and twirling around was fun.  Real fun.  I enjoyed it.

Sharing those efforts with you is equal pleasure.  Here's what I came up with.  Thanks to Meghan for giving me the necklace last week.

  1. Very cute! I love the floral skirt and pink top together with the red belt. I have similar colours planned for tomorrow though I lack a red belt. You must love your outfit too as you are doing the happy dance!

  2. I didn't read the last post as whining, but more as reflection. My favorite aspect of your blog is how completely human you are. I believe that people are fundamentally good and beautiful and miraculous and I can't think of one of your posts that I've read that doesn't reinforce that. You really are one of my most favorite people, so don't go too hard on yourself. *steps down from soapbox*

    2. :) Okay Ms. Super-literal! (Not all people act like human beings)

  3. You look ready for spring! I have a very similar floral skirt. And I didn't think you were whining last post. We all feel down and burned out sometimes. It's OK. :)

  4. What a vibrant floral skirt and I love that cheery yellow necklace. :) I read your last post, didn't think of it as whining - you were expressing a desire to enjoy your authentic self. We all have moments like that and you're brave and honest to share them here.

  5. I didn't see it as whining either - you were having an introspective moment and expressing yourself. Nothing wrong with that.

This is a fabulous outfit! If I saw you walking down the street, I would call out, "Awesome outfit!"

  6. Please don't apologize for your last post. The thing I like about your blog is your honesty.

Also, that skirt is very pretty. :)

  7. I certainly didn't see your post as whining! As the other girls have said it was you expressing yourself and there is certainly nothing wrong with that! This is the forum for you to let us know how you feel.

LOVE the skirt ... I wouldn't mind a dress like that. And you look super cute in it.

  8. This is lovely! I think this is one of my favorite outfits of yours. It's classic lines while still vibrant, youthful, and very you.

And I agree with all of the ladies above: I didn't get any impression whatsoever of whining. I thought you were honest about how you felt, and that it was a completely understandable feeling!

    1. Thanks. I'm not sure why but everyone seems to hate white tights. But, to me, they have a place when you don't want to wear nude hose.

  10. Oooh, I love a pretty floral and these colors are wonderful. We all get in a funk now and then. Every other week I wonder why I'm blogging and think I should quit and pare my wardrobe down to 50 pieces rather than 500 (I may or may not be exaggerating as I have not counted). haha
I didn't think you came off as whining either. I'm glad you were open and able to share with us how you were feeling at the moment. Can you imagine all of your readers surrounding you and embracing you in a great big group hug. Well, just know we'd be squishing you with our love hugs if we were there.. :)
    Anyway...you look just lovely!

  11. Your outfit is fab but I'd really love to see you in a lighter colored wig. Your natural hair is light and looks super. A lighter wig might help us appreciate your facial features more and make you look more Springy. I have colored my hair very light because my coloring is pale so I got lost with dark hair. I can see you as a blonde and it would be great, to me.

  12. You weren't whining, you were just sharing your feelings - something you should be allowed to do in this space because it is YOUR space!

You are shining in this outfit and providing much needed sunshine to me on another gray and rainy day! I'd love to wear an outfit like this sometime myself in fact! :)

  14. I think it is good to be open about our feelings. We can't always be "on" and "up". I didn't think you were whining at all.

This skirt is a real winner and I love the red belt defining your waist. Very ladylike Spring ensemble.

  18. I'm SOOOO glad you're getting some good use out of your present! :-D I hoped you would like it!

I agree with Bethie- there is a difference between looking at yourself and being honest and whining. I didn't read your post as whining, or complaining, at all. More, almost like it was goal setting. <3 I love ya.
