A "Sweet" Prom Dress

A high school student in Michigan's Upper Peninsula came up with a cool idea -- to make her prom dress out of Starburst wrappers.  She asked her classmates to save their wrappers and she collected thousands.  With them, she made a prom dress, matching hair-band and purse.  She estimates it took 18,000 wrappers to do the job.

The project took five months to complete and her friends and family assisted.  Her story is here and this is what the results look like...

  2. I have heard of this before - also have seen bags made out of candy wrappers too. It takes a lot of work and dedication, that is for sure!

    1. A chic shop in my town sells handbags made from candy and other wrappers. The company that makes them promotes environmentalism and recycling. Plus, they're fun to look at!

  3. Way cool. Even better - I love Starburst. I could have helped her by eating millions. I'm willing to do that.

  5. This is awesome! But so much work... I thought 3 weeks was a lot for a prom dress, that's how long it took me to sew mine.

  8. I am the worst. The first thing I thought is that her prom date is totally thinking he can't wait to take the wrapper off later. Like I said...I am the worst.
Cool idea though, very creative and original!!
