The best thing about fashion-blogging, in my experience, is mixing up different elements to create a new outfit. The process of conceiving, executing and revising a new ensemble is infinitely creative and fun. I love it!
This outfit includes a top I recently bought from Kat, paired with a ruffled skirt just given to me by Debbie. I enjoy brightening outfits with colored tights so I went in search for a pair of mustard yellow. It took me a while to find some and when I finally did, at Target, the price was right ($5).
I experimented with two different belts. Which do you feel works better?
Version one: Ditch the yellow belt! The necklace and tights add a pop of color well enough.ReplyDelete
Version two: Ditch the tights and rock the leggggssss! The necklace is a great statement piece, and I think the yellow tights are unnecessary for that particular ensemble. My favorite version is the second because it looks very sleek. Glad you're putting that shirt to use! That's the one shirt that I sort of wish I would have held on to (but in reality, I probably still would not have worn it. I'M. SO. TERRIBLE.)
Awesome outfit! I think I prefer the wider black belt, because it makes the two bits of yellow more special. The skinny belt is a little too thin (it would make a good wrist-wrap).ReplyDelete
Very cute skirt! I like the black belt the best :)ReplyDelete
I really like the black belt the best. I think the yellow belt distracts from the necklace & tights, whereas the black belt allows them to shine and yet pulls the outfit together very well.ReplyDelete
The yellow belt cuts you in the middle- and the look is best long and lean. So get rid of it (for this outfit at least.) The black belt is much better. The outfit is great- I love the pop of yellow from the necklace and tights- we have matching tights!ReplyDelete

I love the color combination! You look great in both outfits but I have to agree with the majority here (how boring, I know! lol) and say you look better in the second outfit. I think the fancy belt buckle/adornment draws your eye in, this making your waist appear narrowed.ReplyDelete
Thanks, guys! Your comments help so much.ReplyDelete
I think I like the black belt better. I agree with what was said about the yellow belt... I always have that problem when I wear belts like that.ReplyDelete
But I have to ask, where did you get those heels?
I really appreciate your comments on my blog. They were very thoughtful....and gave me warm fuzzies.
With the thin one...it's ok (not great, but ok)now the black one is much more sleek and accentuates more. The patent black makes it look more professional also.ReplyDelete
First of all, to be honest, I really hate colored tights and yet this may be my favorite outfit of yours! You pulled it off!!! You made mustard tights look elegant...seriously! This looks great! Hats off to you Biker! Thanksgiving hugs to you! ~SereneReplyDelete
WHEN DID YOU GET NEW HAIRZ???? I've missed so much :( I am loving this outfit so much, something I would LOVE to wear!ReplyDelete
I understand what you're going for with the yellow belt and I love both a skinny belt and a bright belt, but think the black belt looks best here. Love those tights - bright yellow are hard to wear and you're rockin' them for sure.ReplyDelete
Also, I wanted to thank you for your sweet comment on my blog the other day. It's not everyday someone is choosing me to be their fantasy sister! I'm super flattered.
I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving!
So comparison wise, I like the black belt better. It's more effective at defining your waist while still keeping the proportions in balance. I adore the skirt! I have a top with similar tiny ruffles.ReplyDelete
I think that skinny belts are most effect when wearing high waisted skirts with a top tucked in. Otherwise, even on hourglass shapes, it can play tricks on the eye in terms of proportion. I nearly never wear skinny belts as a waist cincher, only as a highlighter. Like "oh this top has a built in elastic band here so I'll dress it up with belt".
All that said, great tights! I love the necklace. Your bravery of color is very inspiring. Be aware those target tights aren't the sturdiest, but they are perfect for 'playing'.
Agree with several other commenters that you are quite talented with bold colors! I like both belts, but think the black one looks better with the yellow tights. Save the yellow belt to wear with black tights and you can have two versions of this ensemble.ReplyDelete
The skirt is really great, too. Such a versatile foundation piece! I can't wait to see what else you build with it.
aki! -- I got the shoes online from Zappos ($39).ReplyDelete
This is an Amazing ensemble! I am a fan of the black belt!ReplyDelete
I'm going yellow all the way here!!!! Love this ensemble & yellow is so now. You look fabulous Ally xoxoReplyDelete
I love this outfit! The color of those tights is so pretty and that ruffled skirt is adorable! Great shoes too. I prefer the black belt as well. :)ReplyDelete
The little yellow belt is cute, but the second version looks SO much better. I think it beaks the colors up less and makes you look skinnier. Either way, love the leggings. Those are the same yellow tights that I have :)ReplyDelete
Definitely the second belt... color, width, and placement are all superior. The yellow tights and necklace accent without detracting from the line of the outfit in the latter photosReplyDelete
The black one.ReplyDelete
This is a great outfit, too bad we don't wear the same size :)
