Time Travel

Ally?  Ally?  Is that you?!

Yes, dear friends, it's me -- in the future.  I stepped into a time-machine and travelled two years forward to a time when my hair has grown ten inches and changed both style and color.

If you don't believe in time-travel, then you probably won't believe this is my hair.  And, of course, you would be right.  This new hair is actually a wig I gave myself for my birthday.

I like it.  I've never had really long hair before and it pleases me.  What do you think of it?

And, btw, have you ever worn a wig?  Would you try one?

  2. Oooh so pretty! I think the color is very flattering on your skin tone. The caramel tones warm everything up.

I actually tried out wigs and considered one when I was younger. I wanted to dye my natural color bright shades, and wanted a wig for "normal" hair. Instead I wound up buying some for costuming, but I don't have any anymore.

  3. You're so pretty!!! Great choice! It looks awesome.

Have I ever worn a wig? Oh, have I ever! I think I want to do a post about my wiggin' out adventures...

  4. Love the color, but for styling... Side part, side swept bangs. Stylish women don't really part their hair in the middle.

  5. Happy birthday, girlfriend & fellow Scorpio! That wig is quite becoming. I've always had a hard time with them, I've decided I'm just a big princess and I can't tolerate the heat, the itchiness. (ok, I'm talking about cheap costume wigs, but I really am a princess about comfort). I did see these wigs on etsy that I just about died for! (http://www.etsy.com/shop/MissVioletLace?ref=seller_info) I think the combo of the adorable girl with crazy ice blue eyes and the colors of the wigs just made me wish I had somewhere to wear one.

  6. Happy birthday! The new length is great and you look radiantly happy! I am confused about the color - is it two different colors or is that just the lighting playing a trick on the lens? I think something with a tinge of amber would also look great on you. And you should definitely try different styles (partings, bangs, braids?) with your new hair.

PS, thanks for your comments! I actually spent more of my life feeling like a grumpy 40-year-old than I care to remember :) I'm growing younger as I grow older.

  7. Poet, the picture doesn't show this clearly but the wig is actually three colors: Russet base highlighted with Strawberry Blonde and Ash Blonde. The highlights vary in appearance depending on the lighting.

  8. Fabienne Jach: While costume wigs itch and are certainly uncomfortable, real wigs don't -- they are made to be worn all day and you forget they are there. That difference is one reason for the jump in price from $30 to $100-500.

  9. This looks great on you! The color is perfect! I have never tried a wig but I would not be opposed to one either!

  10. Sounds like the extra money is well worth it for the comfort and depth/variation of color. I have worn cheap wigs before but my hubby isn't a fan.

  12. You look really good and it actually doesn't look like a wig. I think I would like it better with either bangs or the layers swept to one side. I think I would be much sexier. That said, the length is great on you, very becoming.

  13. Wow ... now that's sassy! Personally I've never considered a wig, I believe it can get very hot. I need say though that should I lose my hair, I would consider it.

If this posts - I'm thrilled ... first time in ages it would have worked ... hugz girlfriend

  16. Great wig the back is so pretty with the curls. Try the front swept to the side too for variety. My mom has a wig she likes to wear sometimes. I Haven't but would love to for a drastically different look like platinum blonde or jet black.

  18. Enjoy styling this one! It's got some great potential for cute pony tails withe curls, if it can handle the bit of wear and tear!

  21. Happy birthday, honey! You look amazing - your hair is so lovely!

I've worn novelty wigs (a black one for a geisha costume, and an orange one for a party), but never a "real" wig.

  23. wow. You look so young! what a difference. I've been wanting to try a wig ever since I had a coworker who wore them. She wore a bunch of different ones, and I couldn't get over how much it changed her look.

  24. I love it! I think you made a great choice in getting this dirty blond, long wig :) It's so much fun.

Personally, I have worn a wig. They are a little awkward and uncomfortable... but all the wigs I have are more on a cheaper end of the spectrum. But I do love the instant change and how much fun they can be.

I have tried on wigs, but never have worn them in public.
