Art Photography

I enjoy photography and am enthused to learn more about it.  My friend Jamie is a skilled photographer who's teaching me valuable lessons.  Two months ago, Jamie and I went to NYC to photograph butterflies; I posted those pictures here.

I respect Jamie's talent and want to share with you a little of her work.  Here are some photos Jamie took that, in my opinion, are serious art.  Other photographs by Jamie can be found here.

Do you like photography?  Are you any good at it?  What kind of camera do you use?

  1. I love a good photograph! Esp. if it's black and white! I really can't say if I'm any good or not! I also try to teach my bf how to take good pics, although I suspect he's better than me...! Hugs :)

    P.s.- Loved your interview!!

  5. I'm hopeless at photography but it's on my bucket list to take lessons once I have a nice camera. Wow Jamie is amazing- I especially love the pictire of the beachhouse! I would choose to put photography up as art over a watercolour painting anyday. If you're ever in London, my favourite place to go is the National Portrait Gallery- once a year (usually in Feb) they have a photography exhibit and it is amazing!!!

  6. I'm very interested in photography. I used to paint, but don't have the time for that anymore, so taking picutres is the next best thing.

That one of the bear makes me what to give him/her a big hug. Bear hug if you will :)

  7. I love good photography too. My fiance bought me a Sony DSLR camera for my birthday. Unfortunately, I am farrrr from being well versed in fancy camera use. I'm hoping to take a photography class at some point.

  8. I love looking at beautiful photography. For me the saving grace on being able to take pictures well was digital cameras. Before (my vision is poor) I couldn't take any decent pics and film was expensive so I just stopped taking photos. Since I've gone digital starting with a Canon Powershot point and shoot, now I use a Canon Rebel xsi and my iphone non-stop, I take pics like mad and become rather good, I'd say. I started a street style blog (http://streetstylesacramento.com) and photograph stylish Sactowners and do outfit posts- so I love photography!

  10. I love that bear - she has really captured his essence...You are not doing a bad job either - I love your posts "What I saw Today" - you always seem to notice something out of the ordinary..I am a very new photographer - But I love seeing things differently through the eye of the camera...

  11. These photos are breathtaking! I especially love the last photo the most. There is just something about black and white photos that I love. Photography is a lot of fun...though I did hate learning the basic skills in one of my college classes. Sigh. XOXO

  14. I love photography and would really like to learn more about it. I wanted to take a class in high school but was too nervous to ask my parents for the expensive camera I'd need. Now I regret that, but it's never too late, right?
