Watkins Glen is amazing! The gorge and waterfalls in the state park take your breath away. Natural beauty at its finest. The campsite is serene and offers peaceful bliss. Adorable little chipmunks scurried around my tent all day. Hiking in the woods was superb and I could walk from my campsite to the gorge.
Not insignificantly, you can also return to civilization. There's an excellent BBQ place in town (Nickel's Pit BBQ) with the best hot chicken wings I've ever had -- and that's saying something.
Travel feeds our soul and belly. Put Watkins Glen on your bucket list.
Looks like you had fun! I'm always amazed that everything you do on your own.

As I've matured, I've become more self-reliant, which has its own pleasures. I like learning, I enjoy getting more proficient, I'm fine with solitude and I savor acquiring mastery over difficult tasks. Plus, it opens doors to new adventures!
DeleteLooks gorgeous, just the sort of place we enjoy. Maybe someday...

ReplyDeleteGorgeous is right! What a beautiful spot! Those stairs look like the lead to an amazing adventure! And that diner is just the cutest! Love following your travels!
ReplyDeleteThese are incredible pictures! The strata on the rocks are so beautiful. We saw these in Greece and I was so fascinated by them!

I hope you took another commenter's advise and stopped at the Roscoe Diner.
ReplyDeleteThe falls and gorges are wonderful. My younger son ran a winery on Seneca Lake and now lives in Ithaca and runs a luxury camp ground that backs onto Buttermilk Falls. We walked the falls down a year or so ago and they were spectacular. The gorges in Ithaca are also great.
I hope you got in at least a little wine tasting.
Wow, what a pretty place. I love exploring natural wonders like this.
