Decorating

It's a natural feminine instinct to decorate one's home. I feel it.

My motorcycle "home" is nothing more than a simple shed, made of metal bars and canvas. But despite those lowly materials, the shed infuses me with emotion when I enter it because I know joy is about to begin. My heart starts to sing.

So... why not decorate it? The idea occurred to me when I was at the vintage motorcycle show today. A vendor was selling metal signs cut in the shape of motorcycle marques, like "Indian" and, of course, "Harley-Davidson." I'm a fan of the Indian brand so I picked up one of their signs.

Last March I rode my motorcycle to Detroit which, honestly, was a big trip. I visited Sara and toured the Motor City. To commemorate my journey, I picked up a large metal sign there cut in the name of the city, using lettering reminiscent of automobile/motorcycle advertising.

Now, with two metal signs, it's time to decorate. I hung them in the shed today with ordinary twine; they bookend the spray-painted logo I added a few months ago.

Personally, I like it. What do you think?

  1. Fabulous! Why shouldn't you decorate your bike "shed"? I absolutely love both the Indian and Detroit signs.

    1. Yes. Burt was a character and choosing Anthony Hopkins to portray him was smart.

  10. If I was invited into your shed I would want to leave a "word". A bit like Melanies traveling skirt. Or maybe like those cool French pillows with French words all over them...
