I went to the Mermaid Parade today with four friends. It was fun. The weather was perfect and the parade was bigger than ever. The new Mayor of New York marched in it, dressed as a pirate, and his two teenage kids were named King and Queen of the Parade. (That's them in the first picture below.)
Next year, I want to be in the Parade and not just watch it. I'll have to come up with a clever costume. Any ideas?
Love the Pictures..and you had a perfect beautiful day to enjoy this. I forgot it was the mermaid parade. Usually that coincides with the Gay Pride parade which was either last week or next week...I lost track of when it was this year! But Good for you, going out, having a blast and enjoying it...
ReplyDeleteNext year, let it all go girl, have fun, dress up, and be a mermade..
BTW love the pictures, very artistic, can be magazine quality
That looks likes so much fun and those costumes look amazing. I cant wait to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like fun. I'd want to dress up too!
ReplyDeleteLisa.
These costumes are sensational!!! I'd totally want to join in - going as a vintage mermaid, natch - perhaps in a costume that called to mind classic sailor tattoo art - if I lived in the area.
ReplyDeleteHappy start of summer wishes, dear Ally!

Every year there's a couple who dress up as 1940's sailor and gal; they remind me of you with their vintage vibe. I'm sure I have a picture of them from prior years. I tried taking several this year but none of them came out; too much commotion for a good shot.
DeleteThat looks fun. I really want you to be in the parade too.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteWow, this looks like soooo much fun and I love those creative costumes!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your last comment :)
Enjoy your Sunday!
Ahhh, this is too fun. I love the lady with a ship on her head. I bet you could have so much fun coming up with a costume!

Splendid!! Love the shrimp hat! I would definitely be going with a giant Marie Antoinette wig with some sort of ship scene on it. I hope you do the parade next year :)
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to your pictures of that! It looks like so much fun, and the costumes are all so creative. I also love all the tattoos I see too.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like lots of fun and apparently if you are going to be in it you must show off your boobs! I think that shrimp hat is hilarious and I think that was a guy wearing a fishing net, wasn't it? He should have dolphins caught in it.

AWESOME! You should TOTALLY do it next year!! You should check out my post about my pirates ball to check out what our belly dancers wore.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI was excited for your pictures when you said you'd be going to this annual event again this year and you did not disappoint! So much fun and I hope you do participate next year - you'd be a great mermaid!!
ReplyDeleteI want to go to this! So jealous of all the fun. Next year what if you did something with octopus or squid. You could make some pretty neat costumes with those animals.
ReplyDeleteGood direction. I can't compete as a mermaid with the beautiful women whose natural attributes dwarf mine, so being another sea creature is smart. Plus it opens the door to creative costuming. I've seen some men in past parades do a good job of this and that's where I'm heading.
DeleteOooh! What fun. I really love the ones covered in makeup. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't Disney have a mermaid princess? you should go as her! Ariel I think. Added bonus...she has long red hair : )

I'm the Marie Antoinette mermaid! You captured a great picture of the glittered ship in my hair. May I post it on my blog? With credit of course. :)
ReplyDeleteOf course! No credit needed.
DeleteGreat Pictures, I am the one with the glitter painted seahorses
ReplyDeleteI loved your costume! So beautiful. Thanks for brightening up the Parade.

Ah, my favorite annual event, experienced virtually of course. Number 495 is my favorite, but I love the Mayor's kids, too. 😄
ReplyDeleteI only just worked out how to look at your blog. I am so slow... Love the pictures. I wish we had parades like this, well i don't think we do. I love the pics.
