Serendipity And The City

One of the courts I litigate in is located in Lower Manhattan.  (I showed it here.)  I go there by taking a train into the city (LIRR) and then hopping on a downtown subway.  On my way to court, I'm always nervous and don't waste time dawdling.

After my court appearances, however, I relax.  Instead of riding the subway back to the train station, I walk.  It's a four-mile hike running straight through SoHo, a neighborhood replete with wonderful clothing stores.  SoHo has both posh and less-expensive boutiques.

Today, serendipity -- and a pretty window-display -- pulled me into Soho Girl where I squealed with excitement at beautiful dresses.  They were all in my price range, averaging around $20.  The designs are chic and unusual.

I snapped up three dresses which you'll soon see.  Here's one of them, a strapless tube dress with high/low hem.  It appeals to me and is perfect for the season since it's as light as a tissue.

Do you ever find nice clothes when you aren't looking for anything specific?  My best finds seem to happen by chance.

  11. AH! I love it! The colors make me pine for September, fall colors, but it is still warm out. I have a dress with this shape, the high-low dress. Kyle calls it a "mullet-dress".

  16. How envious am I that you get to stroll through Soho on a regular basis, such a neat neighbourhood! I love this dress, so pretty for summer. I'm like you, always find things when I'm not looking but if I go shopping with a list, it's rare I find what I need!

  17. This is such a great dress, the colours and pattern are so unique. Strapless is always a favourite of mine and I've been wanting to try the hi low hemline for ages. Looking forward to seeing what else you bought.

  18. The palette at work in this summery frock is so very lovely (and looks terrific on you) - at once earthy and beachy, classic and modern, it will have me reaching for beige, brown and aqua to partner together in the near future for sure.

Wishing you a joyful 4th of July, my dear friend!

  19. I love the colours on this dress! And that you paired it with an unexpected orange necklace! Very mermaid-y (but that may be due to the fact I always associate that colour of teal with Ariel...)
