Backless!

I feel really pretty in this dress.  It's the second of the three dresses I bought last week at Soho Girl in NYC.

I'm attracted to its stripey b/w design and, as much, to its sheer back.  I've never worn a sheer back before -- how lovely.  Not only does the sheer back look chic but it's wonderfully cool in the sweltering heat of Summer.  It's over 90-degrees here today in New York.

I had a really fun time doing this photoshoot.  Can you tell?  I think my face reveals me.

Now I just need a gal-pal to meet for drinks.  Are you free?!

  1. I love the sheer panels! Totally perfect for having drinks on the town! I'm never brave enough two wear them though. And I don't know how to wear it with a bra and not look trashy!

    1. The material is thick and stretchy so you could go braless in it without drawing attention to that.

  2. So cute! I like that it's a layered stripe vs. a straight-on stripe, it's amazingly flattering. The sheer sections really add to the flirtatious feel! Perfect for happy hour with the girls - too bad you're on the other side of the country. :)

  3. Omgomgomg!! I LOVE this dress. I noticed it on the model, but her ho-hum, bored face didn't make me look twice. However you look so happy and so rad!!

I love the sheer panels and the crisscross stripes. Rarely do I see people wearing something that I think "I'd wear that", but Ally - I'd so wear that.

Also I'd totally be there for drinks asap if you didn't live 14 hours a way. I need a good girl's night out right now.

    2. The dress is available online for $28 (S/M/L) and the stretchiness of the material makes it easy to fit and wear.

  4. LOVE THIS! I like that you paired it with tights given the sheer panels on the front and back. It looks great on you!

    1. Thanks. At first I was going with tan pantyhose but the hem is too short for that. I went out and bought opaque tights specifically for this outfit. Expensive DKNY tights that I'll use for short dresses. The tights put the focus on the dress where it belongs.

  6. I'm definitely up for a meet-up if you're going to wear that wonderful frock!!! Save a seat for me will you? I think you'll need to reserve a bigger table with plenty of spare chairs :) xo

  7. What a pretty dress! I really like the sheer back and the sheer front, so sexy <3 I would wear it immediately, but maybe it's better if I leave it to you- you look fabulous in it :)

    1. I thought about that and almost bought one yesterday at Kohl's.

  9. Oh gosh, I love black and white. A sheer back is something that would probably suit me, as I've got a long, well-defined back, but unfortunately I can't go braless, and the whole visible bra-strap thing just never caught on with me. I shall live vicariously through you on this one. :)

  10. I too enjoy backless things, as evidenced by my collection of lace-back tank tops. I wear them as underlayers with a little lace showing, though. I can faux-pas through a jogging bra, t-shirt, and warmup jacket, so I trust no single garment without pads. (:

I did once wear a kerchief-shaped top just over a halter bathing suit when it was 110 degrees out. In Paris, though. The men who approach me in the US make it way too uncomfortable to try that here.

  12. Yes I'm free!!! Just wish we didn't live so far away from each other. I was looking forward to seeing the other dresses you bought. It's super stylish being black and white. I always love dresses with interesting or unique backs and this is certainly no exception. Fantastic look!!

  14. You look stunning! I love the sheer details and omg you look so sexy!
I wish I was in US so we could have a night out. Unfortunetly it's too many hours even by plain.

  15. Dark hose and shoes were the perfect compliment to this dress, which reveals, yet doesn't overly flaunt, flashes of skin. The two balance each other out so nicely and create a look that's very chic and becoming.

*PS* Thank you, dear Ally - I know precisely what you mean and don't think it's strange in the slightest to feel about one's online friends the way they do the real world deal. Friendship is about (or at least founded on) the connects we forge with another person, and such connections are just as easily made online and off (perhaps, it could be argued, in this day and age, even easier to make online). I think of you as a friend, too, and always look forward to your engaging, wonderful new posts as well.

And yes, i can totally tell you were having a great time -

  28. AH!! This is one of my very favorites on you!! The pattern is bold and fun and gives you such a pretty curve at the waist line. The sheer vee only helps that too! Very sexy shape and perfectly paired with the black tights and pumps. The back is just icing on the already very chic cake!
