Meeting (Another) Megan

I went into New York City today to have brunch with a wonderful friend, Megan, who was in town for Fashion Week.  Megan lives down South and comes up every year for this event.  I met her last year and we instantly hit it off.  (I wrote about that meeting here.)  That's her on the left.

Megan blogs at TfDiaries and is unusually serious about blogging.  She puts tremendous effort into her posts.  They are remarkable and, in them, Megan displays sizable talents as a stylist and model.  Megan used to work in the fashion industry and she still has connections there.  That's why she comes to Fashion Week, where she gets VIP treatment and entry into exclusive shows.

Waiting for Megan, I hovered around the FW entrance where burly security guards enforced the "Not Open To Public" barrier.  Famous models and industry insiders wandered in and out of the building.  The path was crowded with professional photographers snapping pictures.  It was like a red carpet event with excitement and buzz in the crisp air.  ("Who's that?!", people kept whispering as fashionably-dressed beauties passed by.)

Best of all, the event is held in Lincoln Center, which is a gorgeous place for the arts in the heart of Manhattan.  You feel special just being there.  You may remember Cher, in the movie "Moonstruck", swooning before the water fountain in the plaza while waiting to attend an opera.

In between fashion shows, Megan ventured out and we grabbed a pleasant brunch.  We caught up on all matters, personal and bloggy.  Megan looked fantastic in a hat studded with sea-life ornaments and an amazingly-beautiful color of lipstick.

After our meeting, Megan retreated to another show and I walked around the city, camera in hand.  The urban landscape is so full of arresting visual imagery.  I took a bunch of photos, shown below.  I hope you enjoy them.

Have you ever been to Manhattan?  Would you like to visit?

  3. I went to Manhattan for work a few years back (well, a few + some). I was literally there for 1 day. Sucked as I didn't get a chance to do anything fun. I stayed in the W in Times Square. Times Square makes me crazy and I don't ever want to go back. I want to visit again and do non-touristy things, including getting together w/you! (Wait, maybe that's touristy now...)

    1. Visitors really need to avoid the tourist traps where, for excessive prices, they get a lame experience. Next time you visit, I'll show you the REAL New York!

I have been to Manhattan, but I was 16 and I would LOVE to go again. I have so many friends there that would let me crash at their place so I just need to get myself there =]

  9. Aww! She is a cutie! How awesome to be around all of the fashion hustle and bustle. I have always wanted to go to New York! I wanna hangout in central park, and go shopping at Beacon's closet. And of course to hangout with all of my blogger buddies who live out that way. Sigh, ONE DAY.

  11. I love hearing about your blogger meetups. I would so much like to meet more of my blogging friends. Planning one trip to meet a super lovely NC blogger in March.

Your photos are amazing. Moving to NYC is on the Bucket List, and we honestly think we can make it happen once The Teens have flown the nest (which in these times means gotten some kind of college degree and a job, right?)

    1. Thank you. And it isn't hard to amass Megan-friends since half the bloggers I know are named Megan. Where are the Gertrudes, Ediths and Myrtles?

  16. I've been battling on and off to leave comments on blogger accounts - most frustrating.

I would so love to visit Manhattan ... it just sounds out of this world.

So glad you had a great time.
