The Adirondack High Peaks are 46 mountains spread over 5,000 square miles. There are peaks of every size and shape.
Many, like Coney Mountain, have beautiful views. Here I am on the summit of Coney Mountain. The 360-degree view is magnificent, sweetened by the satisfaction of having trekked long and hard to get there.
My good friend Aimee promised me there was a Starbucks cafe at the summit. She lied. :)
Ah, well done to you and Aimee! I love a good trek (though I get scared on steep descents). You don't need a Starbucks, haha! The view is reward enough!
ReplyDeleteThanks! To help with the steep descent, I used hiking poles for the first time and they were terrific. Like having extra legs.
DeleteAh, my father in law lent me some once and they were helpful! I think they are all in the garage at my MiL's so maybe I'll grab them next time I'm there.
DeleteWhat a beautiful view. Hope the weather was kinder that far north.
ReplyDelete20 degrees cooler -- which was perfect. Instead of hot 80-degree temps, it was in the mid-60's, perfect for outdoor activity.
DeleteLol, and you believed her??
ReplyDeleteConey is an old word for rabbit. :)
I'm naive. :)
DeleteCongrats on your climb. Well done for you and your friend. The 360 degree view sounds like a reason enough for climbing even if there isn't Starbucks at the top. 😀😀😀 I love hiking.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Me, too.
DeleteLies! lol
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views though. And you can always get Starbucks once you get back down :-)

Good advice. :)
DeleteI probably would hike a little harder if I thought there was a Starbucks at top too! :)
ReplyDeleteIt motivates us!
DeleteThese photos are so beautiful. Time in nature is always well spent ❤️
ReplyDeleteExactly right.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous view, and well worth the climb, in spite of the lack of Starbucks ;-) xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures. It must have been so wonderful to reach that peak.
ReplyDeleteYes, you feel a real sense of accomplishment.
DeleteOh wow, I am crazy jealous you got to hike here. It looks stunning.
ReplyDeleteAll of the Adirondacks are special.
DeleteI chuckled judiciously over the idea of a Starbucks perched atop a gorgeous mountain like this. They're so prolific in many parts of the world, it almost seems conceivable... ;D
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome that you two enjoyed a safe, terrific hike together. Thank you for taking us along for the adventure.
