Show Some Love

At funerals, it is common to see an outpouring of love for the deceased. People express deep affection and admiration for the person who died.

I always think the deceased would have appreciated hearing that when they were alive. After they're dead, words don't help them. Supportive comments exchanged among survivors can't reach the loved one. He or she has left the building.

I believe people want to hear and receive love when it matters, while they're alive. I believe we should tell them that. Make the effort. Now, not later.

I do this with people I care about. Do you?

Oh, by the way, let me end by saying that I *LOVE* you! Thank you for being my friend. Your support makes me strong. Strong like this...

  2. I totally agree, it's no use professing love to someone who is dead. I also find it strange that when when someone is in the final stages of life, long-lost relstives suddenly appear to say goodbye. It smacks me as hypocritical. Sorry, I'm in a really bitchy mood this week...

    1. A friend bought it for Halloween and I asked her if I could borrow it just for photos. Technically, the character is Wonder Woman. Few remember the character but a new movie about her is coming out soon to educate you youngsters. :-)

    3. Okay... you beat me by three years. I was born in 1957. Wonder Woman was popular in the 1940's, before both of our times.

  8. Yes! We should tell people we love them and care about them now and not wait till it's too late.

  9. I try to do this in my life. Some people don't accept it as well as others, to my dismay (my own mother). She dislikes what she calls "sentimentality". So I try to do what makes her happy instead, just be with her and go places and talk together. But most people do appreciate hearing it. And I'm with Tina on the people showing up when it's too late! Why didn't they visit when the person could enjoy it?!

  10. Absolutely. This is also one of my main beliefs. I have been to funerals before thinking if only they know how much people cared. Loving your incredible outfit here.

  12. I agree with your sentiments in this post Ally ... It is too late when you are gone to cry. Do it while you are alive. I love telling people I am crazy about them ... I am happy that I met you and that I can call you my friend!!!

You are a Super Wonder Woman!!!

  15. A million yeses to this mindset and message, Ally. I couldn't agree more and think that world would be a far better, happiest, healthier and more lighthearted place if we all followed your lead more.

  16. So much love, right back 'atcha, sweet friend <3

I passed a funeral procession in New Orleans once in my 20s that's stayed with me... rather than a somber, sad affair, it was the most boisterous, lively, FUN music I'd ever heard and the women were dancing and the tubas were playin' and the saints were marching in and I just thought... WOAH. Whoever is in that casket is going out with a party :)
