When most people hear "vintage", they think of the 1950s. But blogger and fellow-giant Gracey gave me a dress that looks back even further. It evokes the styles of the 1940s.
I think the dress is pretty. And if we're going back to that period, let's do it right -- seamed stockings!
What a lovely gift to receive, it's a beautiful dress, the colour is wonderful and you look so glam Ally! A hat and short gloves would be the icing on the cake x
ReplyDeleteThis dress is timeless, a classic, and the colour really pops.
ReplyDeleteSo classic and beautiful. It looks gorgeous on you Ally...like it was made for you!

Gorgeous dress! You really pull off a difficult color very well. And kudos on fitting into it--I have the hardest time finding vintage clothes that work with my waist!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I got the book you sent in the mail and I can't wait to dive in! It's a fascinating topic and one that's been on my mind a lot lately, as I've recently dove headfirst into the wonderful world of makeup obsession :)
Yes this dress has a very 40s feel to it. And love the color it looks great on you. I wish they made more dresses today with this hem length.

40's suit you! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh that's my fave color!! I loooove that style of dress. I would totally wear seamed stockings if it wasn't guaranteed I'd get a run before I even leave the house.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is GORGEOUS on you! I love the color! And pairing it with the seamed stockings looks fantastic! All around fabulous. :)

Love those stockings and that green is SUCH a great color! It works really well on you.
ReplyDeleteOoohh, chartreuse! Now there's a fantastic colour that we don't see anywhere near enough these days. I love when you delve into the past for your wardrobe inspiration and think you really knocked it out of the ballpark with this classic look, Ally.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday wishes,
♥ Jessica
*PS* Seamed stockings for the win always!
The stockings make it. I love the midi-length dresses of the 30s and 40s fashion. That unique shape between the 20s flapper and the 50s housewife.
ReplyDeleteYou look very nice in this color and I think it's a tough one to do because it has a lot of yellow in it. The pleats in the front are such a nice detail and flatter your figure.
ReplyDeleteI think of green as a neutral. It looks great with all other colors found in nature. Maybe A vibrant jacket over it in cooler weather?
Love everything about this outfit! You look stylish and super comfortable in it and of course the heels and seamed stockings just finish it off perfectly!!!
