While in Vancouver, I hiked around Stanley Park. The park is surrounded by water and has beaches. I snapped the photo below which has since become one of my favorites. The image works both visually and metaphorically. I'm very happy with how it turned out and want to share it with you again.
What's your favorite picture?
It is a beautiful picture, quite open to various interpretations, too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to go and paddle in the sea.
ReplyDeleteTo paraphrase a quote I once read, asking a photographer to pic her favorite shot is like asking a mother to pick her favorite child :) That said, I do really love this image (http://emmahenterly.com/photography/babies-one-year/miss-marley/#jp-carousel-297) I took--it happened entirely by accident and couldn't have looked better if I tried!
ReplyDeleteYour image is stunning as well, of course. Expertly captured!
That IS an amazing photo, Emma. Babies are hard to capture well and you entranced this one into behaving.
DeleteThis really is a beautiful picture! I also have a few favorite pictures from my travels... but I think I could not tell which one is my favorite of all of them :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for your last comment : )

This is a gorgeous shot...the composition is great and leaves the viewer with a sense of mystery. One of my favorite photos I've taken was on a film camera while I was in london of a gargoyle statue. It too, was very mysterious...I suppose that's a theme that I like in photography!

ReplyDeleteI had a roll of film go missing from my New Orleans trip as a kid. It eventually got developed and part of them were from the graveyards. I think those are some of my favorite pictures I have
Gorgeous shot! The light is magic here and you, in silver, white and black , are striking in silhouette !
ReplyDeleteMy fav photo is of me is one shortly after i delivered my firstborn. I also have a photo of my daughter when she was three. She was next to an ancient elm tree, and looked like a little fairy ! The light ..

If you haven't seen the mystery photos going around the Internet of two women in the ocean, they are gorgeous: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3181283/Who-mystery-1950s-girls-surf-Photographer-launches-hunt-women-vintage-photos-Virginia-thrift-shop.html
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo Ally!
ReplyDeleteEnchantingly pretty photo! I swear, had you not said where this was shot, I would have asked you if it was the Pacific. The water there has the ability to glisten like no where else I've seen in Canada and you captured that point sublimely here.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!!!

You're right, Jessica. I've lived near the Atlantic Ocean my whole life and NEVER seen it reflect light like this.
DeleteThis is sublime and soothing.
ReplyDeleteThere are far too many images to choose from, but I do adore photos of my pets.
