New Jersey Turnpike

The New Jersey Turnpike has a reputation for being the ugliest road in the country.  A fat slab of concrete surrounded by smelly chemical plants.

I believe there is beauty in everything, so I tried to find some.  Here's my best shot.

  1. ha ha! There is a horrible stretch of road through Michigan too. It looks just like this. We live in Ohio, but my dad lives in Michigan and it's quite depressing.

  5. I think this is a lovely picture - the sun looks so nice coming out around those clouds!! Way to find the beauty in something not so beautiful.

  8. I love your positive outlook Ally.

I took photos of the sky at sunset this evening as the light was amazing and the clouds were just amazing. I'll share soon.

  9. Lovely picture Ally. I didn't even look at the road, just the sky...

  10. My friend Kit and I used to drive up and down the NJ and PA turnpike at least twice a month. We always found the best thrift shops and sang loud songs until we lost our voices. It was definitely amazing and sometimes I miss it. :-) I don't know why the turnpikes get such a bad rep because I love them and have had so many good memories on them.

  12. Beautiful photo Ally. When you're riding or driving into that sun it's kinda painful but if you are the one with the camera it's just all kinds of special. Thanks for sharing :-)

  14. I thoroughly believe in trying to find the beauty in everything, too, dear Ally. Life is not just the grandiose and obviously gorgeous, it is - more often than not - the small, simple moments, places and pieces, all of which have their own subtly poetic beauty. Wonderful photo - it just buzzes with tranquility, hope and sunny happiness.
