Changing My Hair

We have a nice dynamic.  You guys teach me (usually by example) and I learn from you.  Your instruction is invaluable.

I develop areas of expertise slowly, focusing on one at a time with great concentration.  First, I studied clothes; later, makeup; and now, hair.  I've been listening to you guys talk about changing your hair-styles, coloring your hair, and growing or cutting your hair.  It was making me envious.

Then I realized, hey!  If you can do it, so can I!  Who's stopping me?

I mean, you all know the artifice involved in my presentation, so I'm not going to pretend I'm actually growing my hair or dying it.  But I want to at least create the illusion of doing that for the joy of trying new looks.

Specifically, I'm thinking of hair that is longer and lighter in color.  I don't have enough charisma to go all the way to blonde, but I might try light brown.  And I've always wanted long hair.  In fact, I've dreamed about that my whole life.  A long, lustrous mane is a traditional hallmark of femininity.

What do you think?  Should I try a new hair-style?

  1. Go for it! I remember when you suggested I change my hair up. At first I was apprehensive, but seriously, it was the best decision I've made appearance-wise in years. What have you got to lose?

  4. Do it!! There something about changing hair thats therapeutic. Plus. Looking through favorite actors, fashion icons and random hairstyles for inspiration is always fun too. One of my favorite things is looking through google images and magazines for the perfect hairstyle. For me, it's always a mix of two or more...

I hope you do go ahead and change your hair style. It's fun!!! And refreshing!!! :) I love the idea of lighter and longer. Can't wait to see what you do.

  5. You would look good with honey colored streaks mixed with the chocolatey-brown hair! It will compliment your skin tone!!

  6. I love this idea. Long brown, or any color for that matter. Even blonde. You can do any color with your skin tone. Don't eliminate blonde. Ok?

  7. Yes, you should! In fact I was thinking since there's a huge variety in wigs, you can choose everything you wish! I'd go for long hair too! :) (and blonde btw)! Kisses

  14. Go for it! Since you don't have to grow it out or dye it, the possibilities are endless. It's always fun to change things up and try something new.

  16. Go for it! You have even less commitment to a new style, so why not change it up?

  17. I LOVE playing and changing my hair (as you've probably seen from following my blogging, lol!) I think it's exciting, fun, and healthy to take risks with appearances. Hair can be one area people are many times afraid of, so I definitely think it's worth it!

  18. Thanks, guys, for the encouragement. My reluctance isn't practical, it's psychological. Women are much more open to changing their hair-style than men. In fact, men rarely even think about it. I'm trying to shed that attitude and adopt more of your thinking.

  19. The beauty of hair is that if you don't like it, you can change it up again. So why not give something different a whirl.

As a kid I hated my hair, it was red and all the kids in school called me pumpkin head. Now that I'm * ahem* older and its fading and a wee bit grey I sure do miss the effortless hair of my youth. Thank god for a good bottle of dye;)

Those long journeys always start with a small step, so go ahead and make the move. We are all out here rooting for you my friend!

  23. GO FOR IT!!! You know that I am a huge advocate of switching up hairstyles and trying somethine new! The good thing about a wig is it's not permanent so if you don't like it, try something new! (I own a couple of wigs and love them!)

  24. Go for it!! Since you've tried the shorter/slightly wavy style, how about long straight hair with bangs?

  28. Do it!! I think it will look really pretty. Just make sure it's a natural golden blonde and not a bleach harsh blonde. I think the best way is to start with highlights and keep adding more until you hightlight the whole head.

  29. Yes I say go for it! I think you should go red :) xx

  30. A change is as good as a holiday - It will make you feel good - Even if we have a love/hate relationship with our hair...a change still makes us feel more feminine....Lots of love...

  31. Do it!! My friends mom had a longer one and she could put it up and clip it and do all kinds of things. Longer hair would suit you because you could do so much with it!

  32. I think a sandy color would be nice. Not too blonde! And something with a little more movement to it. :)

Wigs are cheap. Have fun exploring with the cheap ones, then spend money for a quality one when you figure out what you like/what suits you!

  33. And don't forget, when your hair color changes, your makeup colors will change as well.

  34. For my 2 cents - I think you'd do great as a redhead. Something va-va-voom and pinup-like :) Maybe even a strawberry blonde.

You've got nothing to lose. Go for it!

  35. By all means give it a try! New hairstyles are a great way to keep your look fresh. I've actually toyed with the idea of trying out wigs so that I can put on a whole different persona if I want to. Someday I'd like to get one of the really good quality ones made of real hair. There's a wig shop down the street from my house and it's always so tempting to go in and play.
