Poetry In Words And Pictures

"...the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts;

and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been,

is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life,

and rest in unvisited tombs."

George Eliot

  1. Ohmygoodness. Would you believe that I studied creative writing for three years and didn't once come across this quote?

    It's completely right in what it says and honestly, it's making me feel a little better. At the moment I'm feeling so lost and like what I'm doing has no meaning, so this has lifted me up a little bit. What will be will be, but at the cause of it, so long as we try our best to do good, I think it will all be alright in the end.

    I hope you are well.

  3. What a poignantly beautiful poem, and I do agree that poetry can be conveyed by pictures as well as words. xxx

  4. That is a beautiful fragment, and your pictures illustrate it so well. Every little bit matters, even if it doesn't seem to at the time. Hugs, to you, hon.
