"...the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts;
and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been,
is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life,
and rest in unvisited tombs."
- George Eliot
Ohmygoodness. Would you believe that I studied creative writing for three years and didn't once come across this quote? It's completely right in what it says and honestly, it's making me feel a little better. At the moment I'm feeling so lost and like what I'm doing has no meaning, so this has lifted me up a little bit. What will be will be, but at the cause of it, so long as we try our best to do good, I think it will all be alright in the end. I hope you are well.
I sympathize. We're all struggling during this rough time. Let's cling to whatever wisdom we can find. Hope you have a good year.
What beautiful words and great photos to accompany it too! :)Hope that you are having a nice weekend! It's a bit of a wet one here.Away From Blue
Thanks! You, too.
What a poignantly beautiful poem, and I do agree that poetry can be conveyed by pictures as well as words. xxx
That is a beautiful fragment, and your pictures illustrate it so well. Every little bit matters, even if it doesn't seem to at the time. Hugs, to you, hon.
Exactly. You, too, Sweetie.
I have been following you for years and I think you are just the bees knees. Your honesty, your eye for finding beauty everywhere and your observations are just so spot on. You're a lovely person inside and out. Thank you for making the world a better place.
Thank you, Nicki. Your words are so sweet. You must be a nice person. :-)
Soul-grippingly lovely post, Ally. Thank you for sharing both your beautiful photos and this impactful, eloquent piece of classic poetry with us. Autumn Zenith 🧡 Witchcrafted Life
