Glamour

Glamour. It's something we're attracted to, an instinct that's innate.

Few of us manage to create real glamour. Perhaps we glance at it dressing for a prom or fancy party. Mostly we see it on the screen and live there vicariously.

I'm no different; in fact, I'm probably much farther from glamour than you. But that doesn't stop me from dreaming and pursuing my dreams.

Shopping for Christmas presents last month I spotted a feather robe that melted my heart. Truly. I snapped it up; fortunately it wasn't expensive.

What do you think? Could I star in a 1940s movie wearing this?  :-)

  1. Absolutely fabulous! You are much more glam than me.

You're giving Elizabeth Olsen in Wandavision a run for her money. They're spoofing t.v. shows through the decades and she was wearing one of these for a moment during the Dick Van Dyke set.

Feathery robes just ooze sex appeal and old Hollywood glamour. We just need to find you some fluffy sandals to match.

  2. Holey schlamoley Ally, you are stunning! This is one of my favorite looks for you yet. Perfect choice of underdress; the cut compliments the robe and the big fire-hazard sleeves and long hem are perfect for your height. :D

    1. (I hope fire-hazard sleeves doesn't sound like a put-down; I love big dangling sleeves and that's what I call them because I had to avoid wearing them on lab days (bunsen burners) and when cooking (gas stove))

    2. Thank you! I found a perfect underdress at Forever 21 for only $15. "[B]ig fire-hazard sleeves" is a good description for these.

  3. It definitely cries for some feathery kitten heels to complete the Joan Crawford look. When you put it away, remember, NO WIRE HANGERS!

  4. Wearing my favorite color! You look absolutely amazing... I kind of want a robe like that now, even if it's just to prance around my house.

  8. Pretty! My friend has one of these and wears it on Zoom calls hahaha. Personally I don't think I'm coordinated enough to deal with those sleeves, but envious of y'all who can pull it off! - Ashley

  9. Very glamorous, I have to admit I own nothing as fabulous as this.
I can picture Marilyn Monroe wearing a matching robe and sitting with while having a drink.
I hope you wear it a lot.

  11. Gorgeous! Love this colour and fluffy floatiness. It reminds of Zsa Zsa Gabor in her beautiful robes she wore. Boufant hair, long dangly chandelier earrings. Divine!

  12. It is soooooo glamourous. I love it. And you look so good in it. Clever to use a simple little dress and those pumps underneath it. No distractions from the fab feathers. The colour is my favourite colour: fuchsia.

  14. You've channelled the spirit of Hollywood's golden age to a tee, Ally, and have knocked the concept of glamour out of the ballpark here.
