Clothing Steamer

I posted last week on a pretty Sixties dress I bought -- authentic vintage! -- but I moaned about its front ruffles being flat from years of being crammed on a thrift-store clothes-rack. Several of you smart gals told me to try a clothing steamer to fluff them up. I'm doing that today.

Coincidentally I bought a clothing steamer for Robin last Christmas so one was already in the house (although still in the box). I just took it out, assembled it and am ready to begin. It looks easy to use and I imagine it will come in handy for removing wrinkles with minimum effort and expense. (I hate the work of ironing which includes taking out all this stuff.)

Have you ever used a clothing steamer?

  1. I love my steamer! I use it nearly every day - it's just so nice for taking the odd wrinkle out. I hope you enjoy it! I loathe ironing, but steaming is somehow much more pleasant.

  2. I had a great steamer and then one day it just decided to up and quit. I need to go out and buy a new one. It was expensive and big too. I'm bummed.

DAMN!!! I like that dress woman!!! I cannot wait to see you wearing it! Freakin' FAB-U-LOUS!!! I'm dying over it.

Where did you find it? I need to shop there.

    1. Please buy yourself another steamer. You'll enjoy it.

A new thrift-store opened near me with rare stuff and low prices. This was only $15 and it's from a half-century ago.

  3. Yes, and I love mine. I don't bother ironing unless there is a very good reason. It's a godsend for quick wrinkle removal. Can't wait to see the dress steamed out!

  4. I have two of them and I hate them both. I just can never get them to do right for me.

  5. I have never used a steamer but it sure worked on this pretty dress... the picture looks very boutique like.

  6. Never used one as I hate ironing so much (I normally take a very sad look and ask my husband to give me a hand). The dress is so pretty! can't wait to see it on you!

  7. That dress is so pretty! I'm not big on ironing either... Bryan sprays all of his clothes the night before with a water bottle so it eliminates some of the wrinkles in his dress shirts, b/c he knows how much I hate it (and truthfully, I don't think he knows how to iron, but shhhh). :)

I can't wait to see this dress on you :) Beautiful form!

  8. Awesome that you had a steamer in the house already. I have always wanted one but never gotten around to getting one. My Mom LOVES to iron so if there is anything that needs to be wrinkle free ... she's my go to person.
