I was pondering where to ride this month and just came up with a great idea -- Toronto!
It's the fourth largest city in North America. (The first three are Mexico City, New York and LA.) People tell me that Toronto is cosmopolitan and fun. It seems worth a visit.
The journey is a long ride (550 miles) but I can do that in one day. My new touring bike is very comfortable. There's a cool thing at the top of CN Tower -- 1,200 feet up in the air, you can walk outside tethered to a harness. How neat is that?!
Anyone been there? Suggestions or advice?
AMAZING.

Ha ha! You want to do the sky walk? ; P Just thinking about it makes me dizzy but I'm happy to watch you and take photos!

OMG, that looks amazing (and also piss-your-pants scary). I've heard amazing things about Toronto but have never been. Can't wait to hear about your trip :) XOXO
ReplyDeleteI know folks who've done it and really enjoyed it! it's not for me, but all the dare devils in my life love the thought of it! I have lots of suggestions for TO, but the specific itinerary will depend on who long you plan on staying there :-)
ReplyDeleteI plan to make several trips there since I can't do everything at one time. Plus, my friend Suzanne live nearby.
DeleteI love that you know you'll need to routine multiple times! I definitely recommend visiting: the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum); Casa Loma; AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario); walking through China town and having lunch or dinner (or even both!) there; visiting St. Lawrence Market on a Saturday and eating all 3 meals from the vendors!; visiting the Toronto Island and having a picnic; visiting the U of T campus (University of Toronto), great architecture and lots of hidden gems; visiting Holt Renfrew (the equivalent of Saks/Neiman Marcus) to see some awesome high end fashion, including some Canadian designers; if you can try and be in TO for the Pride Parade (1st week-end in August I think), there will be no more welcoming of an audience, participants and by-standers, a truly awesome week-end to be in TO...I can think of so much more, but we'll start with these!
DeleteThe glass floor was bad enough for me, could never do the sky walk!

You are absolutely mad! Brave, but mad!!! But it's a nice idea for a trip!x
ReplyDeleteGuilty as charged!
DeleteHave fun! Even though I live in Canada, Toronto is as remote to me as New York. I was there ONCE :) Went up CN Tower but stuck to the inside - haha
ReplyDeleteI love Canada, from Vancouver to Nova Scotia. I plan to visit as much of it as I can.
DeleteOMG that is crazy you can get up to Toronto in one day? My mothers husband once rode a bike across the country. He also crossed the Atlantic in sailboat, kinda cray cray. And you should do the walk if you are not afraid of heights.

Very, very cool choice! We lived there for six years, so I know the city quite well. Please feel free to drop me a line if you'd like a list of vintage shops and/or other suggestions of things to do while there. For me personally, some of the biggies were/are Toronto Island, the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum), exploring both Little Italy and Chinatown, Black Creek Pioneer Village, and a day (or weekend) trip down to Niagara Falls (or up from, perhaps, if one is coming into Canada from the US).
ReplyDeleteWishing you a safe, fabulously fun trip!

I have never been, and DO want to go, hope that seat is comfy... and that camera is handy! Have fun!

To see you and Suzanne is fun enough for me! But yeah, I'll be on the ground, or in the lounge - watching and perspiring for you. xo
