Psst... Can You Keep A Secret?

How big are we allowed to dream?

There's no female experience I don't wish to have.  No rite of passage, no mundane chore, no major event that is outside my desire.  Of course, most female experiences are beyond my reach at this point, but that doesn't deter me from pursuing facsimiles of them.

A prime example was my Prom Project.  I loved doing that post.  Preparing for it was exciting, dressing up for it was fun, and recording it was rewarding.  The faux-prom fulfilled me deeply.

There's another, similar idea I've had for a post for as long as I've blogged -- but I've been too anxious to execute it.  I worry you might misunderstand my goal and intent.  For that reason, I'm reluctant to even mention it.

So I'm not going to name the experience but...

  1. No dream is too big or too small! You look absolutely lovely in a veil. I didn't wear one for my wedding, but I can see the appeal.
Now you've piqued my interest ... I'd like to see the dress, shoes, accessories, and reception dress ... :)

  2. Dreams keep life sweet! You're lovely in this feminine veil and lipstick. I have been married both with and without a veil, and loved every moment of the experiences; I feel you.

  3. You look lovely and I hope you enjoy playing out your dreams. I never had any big dreams about bridal attire, but then I am not a fan of being princess for a day. I am looking forward to seeing more!

  9. You look pretty!!!
I actually didn't want to wear a veil when I got married but my sister said I should, so I did. It was ok but I think my Great Gatsby inspired headpiece got a bit lost because of it, wasn't such a statement!
So what dress would you go for???
Mind, you, re rites of passage as a woman, I'd avoid menopause if I could!!! X

  11. You look absolutely radiant in the first photo ... LOVE IT.

I agree with Kezzie ... going through menopause is a horrible experience and one I wish we didn't have to go through.

  13. I hadn't considered it before Ally, but it makes total sense that being a bride is a very magical and romantic moment. Big poofy veil, exquisite dress, party with friends and family... it can be like being a princess at a ball!

I am with your other fans that you'd look lovely, and add your delightful personal flair to your special day. (And I've just come back, but your new hair suits you really well! It's a touch of sexy and sass while being very feminine.)

  14. Hey love! I don't see anything strange at all about fantasizing about your "big day." I've never been the kind of girl who is in a rush to run down the aisle, but I've always known that when I am ready, I will know what I want.

It's kind of the same as fantasizing about a dream home. It doesn't necessarily mean that you don't like the home you live in right now, but it's more of an exploration of possibilities and an opportunity to be creative in your own mind. Or at least in my opinion.

By the way, I am also really loving your new hair. Very sophisticated!

  17. What a wonderful idea! Would it be a possibility for you to renew vows in a private ceremony or intimate gathering with a little party afterward?
If not, then find that dress and enjoy a nice photo shoot again...like the prom experience one. I have never in my life yearned for the wedding dress, big wedding ceremony, etc. I think I'm too shy and would not want to be on display in front of people. I would just be nervous about the whole thing and not enjoy it at all.

  19. AAAHHH! You look soooo stunning! I really hope you went bridal dress shopping, because that is such a uniquely female experience that I personally think every woman deserves, if she wants it.

I just picked up my own wedding dress from the salon last week and it was the most incredible feeling. Please share your photos, if you have them!!
