First Outfit Of The Year

Happy New Year!

Considering my first outfit-post of 2014, I decided to make it special.  I broke out a stylish new piece from Rachel Roy that I picked up in a thrift-store for $8.  Eight dollars!  It's brand-new and fits me like a...  well, you'll learn.

This "dress" is actually a romper.  Yes!  I've been searched for rompers since they popped up on blogs last year.  I like their femininity and ease.  The shorts underneath the skirt obviate anxiety about hem-length -- and you know I prefer short.  Of course, going to the Ladies Room is a complicated dance but that's the price you pay for fashion.

I like how the romper drapes.  I like its color.  I like its epaulets.

What do you think?

  2. Really snappy, elegant ensemble. This has a sense of New York chicness to it if you ask me. You're a gorgeous lady in red here, Ally, and one that has me thinking I should bust out one of my red frocks for my blog again soon, too.

*PS* If I can ever help you navigate the waters when it comes to what lip product is what, please don't hesitate to ask.

  14. Happy 2014! What a great color to start off the new year. This doesn't look like your typical romper, which I love. I think it's beautiful and looks amazing on you. I like your tights, too :)

  27. This is amazing! Seriously, you look smokin. And the fact that is a romper is much cooler because it's simply more practical when it comes to activities. Except going to the toilet. They suck for that.

But damn girl, that colour on you! :)

  30. The draping of this piece is beautiful - it really takes what can be a juvenile piece of clothing into elegant, classy territory.
That bright orange suits you, and you need to give me some lessons on rocking a bright lip color ... you do it with such flair, what's your secret? ;)

    1. First I make sure the base color won't clash with the hues of my clothing and then I throw caution to the wind! Meaning, I often elect to go to the extreme with wild, bold color. Why not?!

  31. Ok, WOW!! I really, really like this! I let out an audible "wow!" when I scrolled down and saw your full outfit. My absolute favorite so far. My boyfriend also sends his compliments. I love those tights!! You look great. Wonderful first outfit!

  33. That is one fantastic outfit! I love all of it and you look both cute and sexy in it. I think I could wear that style but not that colour. I have not worn a romper since I was a small child and they usually had snaps at the crotch to make life a bit easier.

  34. Ye gods--with those legs, you should always wear such smashing tights!
