  1. I really enjoyed Gravity. I think it should win for cinematography at least. Cate Blanchett was superb in Blue Jasmine. I haven't seen American Hustle yet and I found 12 Years a Slave too difficult to watch. The Wolf of Wall Street had some very funny bits and I thought Captain Phillips was okay.

    Who are you rooting for?

    1. I saw "American Hustle" and while it was fun to see talented actors go wild, the movie doesn't hang together as a film. So I'll root for Amy and Jennifer but not the film itself. I'm eager to see "Her" and "Dallas Buyers Club", so I'll probably root for them if they're good.

    1. That's a great idea, Jodi! I did an Oscar party a few years ago and everyone loved it. I made everyone vote before the show started and the person with the most right answers got a prize. Oscar parties are a female equivalent of Superbowl parties. (I love movies; I hate football.)

  3. This is the first year in awhile I haven't seen any of the nominated films yet. Somehow I don't think I'll have the chance to catch up before the awards either - something to work towards over the next year I guess!

  6. Haven't seen any of the movies (and sadly have not even heard of some of them ~ don't get to the movies enough!) however my son did see Wolf Of Wall Street and said it was good but that if he had to edit it he would cut at least an hour out of it. I do love to watch the Oscars though and will make a plan to watch it as I love Amy and Julia.
