I Dare You!

You might remember my tutu story (here).  After reading it, my good friend Fuzzy (who has a terrific motorcycle blog) dared me to wear a tutu while riding a motorcycle.

Never one to back down from a challenge, I started thinking about her dare.  I realized it'd be fun to wear a frilly dress on a motorcycle.  The unexpected incongruity of that image might be humorous.

I decided to do a photoshoot where I am half-man, half-woman.  Boy from the waist up, girl from the waist down.  Riding my motorcycle in public.  On busy streets.

I did it today and here are the results.  Big thanks for Nicole and Jamie for helping create these photos.

My goal for this was to make you laugh.  Did I succeed?

  6. This is just too awesome for words. But let me try anyway. I think that both parts are incredible. That smile on your face is priceless. And that tutu is so amazing. I want to wear a tutu! Maybe someday I'll have the courage to wear one just like you!

    MWAH!

  8. WHOOOOOOOOOOO!

Okay, they should just close the internet right now because there will never be anything more kickass than this posted.

You went from a chick who was hesitant to go outdoors to this - all eyes on you?
    A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
I'm so proud of you, Ally. :)

    You made my morning. <3

And... you will of course have to give me some tips on riding in heels. This is a skill i do not have ;o)

  9. You are awesome! lol, I love the pink tutu! I have a tutu/petticoat obsession (I bought a few and haven't taken pictures in them yet...need to get on that soon). Great pictures, I giggled a little, but I admire your confidence! :)

  11. Fuzzy, riding in heels is a vastly different experience! Shifting, braking and even standing at a stop when the weight of the bike is on your leg were all a challenge. Plus, these shoes are loose so I kept strugglining with my toes to keep the pumps on my feet.

And, yes, I attracted a lot of attention from people in cars... Double-takes and open-mouthed stares.

  12. Funny idea. Would be great to see a video of those people in cars.
Als always in your pics, your legs rock!

  16. You definitely did!! heehee I'd have loved to see the looks on the faces of the other drivers as they gawked and did double-takes. ;) What fun. Sometimes I want to do something totally outlandish in public just to see how people respond.

On a serious note, though, I feel like this was a HUGE step for you personally!!! Whether you were half man or not, you were in public somewhat presenting as female for the very first time as far as I know! You've come a long way, baby! Fuzzy said it well: "You went from a chick who was hesitant to go outdoors to this - all eyes on you?" Your goal may have been to make people laugh, but, oh, you accomplished much more than that!

  18. Really cool. I bet it was fun to see the faces of people who weren't sure what they had just seen. It definitely made me smile.

  21. Wow...you went all out with the heels! I'm glad someone else asked before me, 'cause I was wondering how you managed to navigate with them as well. I can barely drive my car in heels - I can only imagine a bike!

  24. Laugh? Hell, no! I was too busy drooling over that beeeeeeeoootiful hunk of bike flesh! Sigh, I miss my touring bike so much. I had a Honda ST1100 before moving full-time into our motorhome. My little Yamaha scooter is cute as bug's ear, but nothing can compare to the smooth hum of a sport tourer.

Ally, I hope we can ride together one of these days. With the mismatch of our bikes, that ride may only be to the corner store and back, but it would be fun. Tutus for everyone!

  33. The bottom two photos gave me a laugh... the top one is an art/editorial piece, and should be in a magazine!

  34. OMG, you totally made me laugh! That was awesome! Having been to Burning Man and being familiar to that scene, somehow tutus on men doesn't seem odd to me at all. You're such a rock star, I wish I'd been there to see it in person.
