You might remember my tutu story (here). After reading it, my good friend Fuzzy (who has a terrific motorcycle blog) dared me to wear a tutu while riding a motorcycle.
Never one to back down from a challenge, I started thinking about her dare. I realized it'd be fun to wear a frilly dress on a motorcycle. The unexpected incongruity of that image might be humorous.
I decided to do a photoshoot where I am half-man, half-woman. Boy from the waist up, girl from the waist down. Riding my motorcycle in public. On busy streets.
I did it today and here are the results. Big thanks for Nicole and Jamie for helping create these photos.
My goal for this was to make you laugh. Did I succeed?
Love it! Absolutely love it!!ReplyDelete
Oh. My. GOD! That's hysterical! Yay to Fuzzy for making the dare. And yay to you for pulling it off. Thanks for the chuckle. :-)ReplyDelete
Ahh! So. Awesome! Yes this did give me a good chuckle. Go you for stepping up. Hope you had a blast.ReplyDelete
Absolutely! Loved the end results and good on you for taking on the dare!ReplyDelete
That is great! What a fun experiment!ReplyDelete
This is just too awesome for words. But let me try anyway. I think that both parts are incredible. That smile on your face is priceless. And that tutu is so amazing. I want to wear a tutu! Maybe someday I'll have the courage to wear one just like you!ReplyDelete
This so needs to be submitted to a motorcycle magazine. BRILLIANT..I absolutely love it an how liberating, free and beautiful it is...Good job!ReplyDelete
Okay, they should just close the internet right now because there will never be anything more kickass than this posted.
You went from a chick who was hesitant to go outdoors to this - all eyes on you?
I'm so proud of you, Ally. :)
You made my morning. <3
And... you will of course have to give me some tips on riding in heels. This is a skill i do not have ;o)
You are awesome! lol, I love the pink tutu! I have a tutu/petticoat obsession (I bought a few and haven't taken pictures in them yet...need to get on that soon). Great pictures, I giggled a little, but I admire your confidence! :)ReplyDelete

Oh my gosh! This is fantastic. I remember your tutu story and am so glad you did this! You just made my very crappy morning, much better :)ReplyDelete
Fuzzy, riding in heels is a vastly different experience! Shifting, braking and even standing at a stop when the weight of the bike is on your leg were all a challenge. Plus, these shoes are loose so I kept strugglining with my toes to keep the pumps on my feet.ReplyDelete
And, yes, I attracted a lot of attention from people in cars... Double-takes and open-mouthed stares.
:) love it! - ElizabethReplyDelete
Funny idea. Would be great to see a video of those people in cars.ReplyDelete
Als always in your pics, your legs rock!
I really wish that I could have witnessed this in person.
Love this, actually you look badass. The legs :D !ReplyDelete
I think this was a great dare and the pictures are great.
Yes ! you succeeded ! I am smiling :)ReplyDelete
You definitely did!! heehee I'd have loved to see the looks on the faces of the other drivers as they gawked and did double-takes. ;) What fun. Sometimes I want to do something totally outlandish in public just to see how people respond.ReplyDelete
On a serious note, though, I feel like this was a HUGE step for you personally!!! Whether you were half man or not, you were in public somewhat presenting as female for the very first time as far as I know! You've come a long way, baby! Fuzzy said it well: "You went from a chick who was hesitant to go outdoors to this - all eyes on you?" Your goal may have been to make people laugh, but, oh, you accomplished much more than that!
You have just given me my belly laugh for the day!ReplyDelete
This is too cool! Love it!ReplyDelete
Really cool. I bet it was fun to see the faces of people who weren't sure what they had just seen. It definitely made me smile.ReplyDelete
Awesome!!! I love that you wore the stilettos as well!ReplyDelete
Ahhh! This is so awesome! haha, I love it because I can tell you were having a blast, look at you smile! :)ReplyDelete
Wow...you went all out with the heels! I'm glad someone else asked before me, 'cause I was wondering how you managed to navigate with them as well. I can barely drive my car in heels - I can only imagine a bike!ReplyDelete
Wow! You are such an original and a brave soul!ReplyDelete
This is amazing. These shots are hilarious.ReplyDelete
Laugh? Hell, no! I was too busy drooling over that beeeeeeeoootiful hunk of bike flesh! Sigh, I miss my touring bike so much. I had a Honda ST1100 before moving full-time into our motorhome. My little Yamaha scooter is cute as bug's ear, but nothing can compare to the smooth hum of a sport tourer.ReplyDelete
Ally, I hope we can ride together one of these days. With the mismatch of our bikes, that ride may only be to the corner store and back, but it would be fun. Tutus for everyone!
oh, i love the photos! you look awesome! my fave is the last pic, you look so happy :) i admired your legs :))ReplyDelete
Haha, very definitely! :DReplyDelete
I hope you started a trend! :)
Love your shoes by the way! :)
Yes you did! Although I think the heels were more incongruous than the tutu. LOL!ReplyDelete
That's so funny (and awesome!).ReplyDelete
xoxo ~ Courtney
This is such a wonderful combination of your favourite things and I think the photos are cute and very brave as well! Did you get a few dounble takes?ReplyDelete
Many, Emily! I perplexed people driving by.ReplyDelete
I love it--and I bet the other drivers did too! But how did you manage to ride in those heels?ReplyDelete
You are fearless Shybiker! You need to change your name to something else more suitable... I'll help you think of something! I love everything about these photos! Did you get lots of honks?ReplyDelete
The bottom two photos gave me a laugh... the top one is an art/editorial piece, and should be in a magazine!ReplyDelete
OMG, you totally made me laugh! That was awesome! Having been to Burning Man and being familiar to that scene, somehow tutus on men doesn't seem odd to me at all. You're such a rock star, I wish I'd been there to see it in person.ReplyDelete
Awesome! I still read your lovely blog btw, It's just that my time is limited lately! I missed talking to you Ally! Kisses :)ReplyDelete
Too awesome!! I'm super impressed you are riding in heels. That's a real talent :)ReplyDelete
Absolutly awsome pics,I would ride with you anyday! I ride my bike in drag as well!!!!ReplyDelete
Fantastic! Apart from anything else your photos really made me smile, a big grin from ear to ear because you look fabulous and are obviously having loads of fun.ReplyDelete
I love this! I totally missed it. You are so brave and daring!ReplyDelete
"brave and daring" are better words than crazy as a loon. :)Delete
wow! simply amazing!ReplyDelete
