For my whole life, I've been attracted to clothes I couldn't wear. One of the items I craved early on is linen pants with flat front and rear-zipper. The absence of a front zipper is significant as a gender-marker. The absence of elasticity is a sign of devotion to the craft of fashion. Anyone can fit into stretchy leggings; pants that don't stretch must be carefully chosen.
I found a pair of pants at a thrift-store. They're light green. I present them here with a sparkly top and glittery shoes. To me, the star of the outfit are the pants since they are what I care about.
These pictures don't look normal because I played with different lighting. I trying to expand my visual repertoire by exploring new photographic techniques.
Those retro pants are cool. Such a 60's-70's vibe.ReplyDelete
Playing is fun. More adults need to do it and understand that playing with fashion is just as fun when you're an adult as when you were a kid.
I agree, the pants are very "Mad Men" era to me. Dressing up is awesome! Go for it!ReplyDelete
I love the sunglasses. But I feel you - Nothing feels better than a nicely fitting pair of pants. They're definitely not easy to find. This is a good fit on you.ReplyDelete
Love the simple outfit, and am glad you are having fun wearing it, it shows! Great heels, and I love the detail on the blouse! Everything is so well tailored, superb!ReplyDelete
very nice! Those pants fit you perfectly! and the color <3ReplyDelete
and yay for finding them. I do understand how important it is to make a step forward, it may not be that big it is significant for you!
I do love the outfit and you look at home in it. But I'll admit I'm an avid stiletto wearer and I would suggest 4 to 5 inch heels with all outfits. BTW - I just posted a response to an old blog of yours about shoe dangling. Have a great day!ReplyDelete
You look so happy in this outfit sweet Ally ... I do love those pants and the shoes are gorgeous.ReplyDelete
I am still dying to see you with a short "flicky" hairstyle ... it was one of my FAVOURITE Halle Berry styles. I will find a picture and mail it to you.
Nice idea -- I'll look for one.Delete
So true what you write about trousers - no elasticity and they need to fir perfectly! What a nice casual yet feminine outfit you've chosen!ReplyDelete
Thank you, Kati.Delete
I think you pulled this off quite well, there is a relaxed feel is this look I like.ReplyDelete
Me, too -- and it was entirely unintended.Delete
That's a cute, relaxed look. Also very practical.ReplyDelete
What a cute look! I love the sunnies and heels! And how awesome you found the perfect pair of pants - they look lovely.ReplyDelete
Oooh, the pants look good on you! I really struggle with tight pants, they just don't fit or suit my shape very well- you don't have this problem at all-they are great!ReplyDelete
I'm sorry you wake up stressed!x
I don't know if I should be happy or sad but I simply don't have any hips, so some women's clothes fit me and some don't.Delete
I love those pants (never really thought about the whole "absence of zipper" gender stuff... interesting! I guess it's the same with the buttons on opposites for men/women, right?). I love the pants on you, but really those shoes are the star of the outfit :) So many sparkles!!!ReplyDelete
The "gender stuff" has always been important to me, primarily because it marked the line I was instructed not to cross. Things only girls can do (like wear pants with rear- or side-zippers) were beyond my reach. Which only makes me want them all the more.Delete
The button-situation actually has a history behind it.
You look great but now you need to plan an outfit around those shoes. I love them!ReplyDelete
Yay! Fun sparkle top!ReplyDelete
Such a non stretchy, well fitted pair of trousers are hard to find. You did a great job and they are such a nice colour too. Matched perfectly with those heel and top. This look is very sophisticated.ReplyDelete
As for the photography I cannot advice you. Still learning a lot myself.
