My Outfits In 2015

My outfits are trial-and-error -- with many mistakes. Due to inexperience, I'm never sure what will work and what won't. On the plus side, experimentation yields valuable knowledge and teaches me many lessons. It emboldens me to try styles outside my norm. For example, this year I started wearing skirt-suits and pants and they both pleasantly surprised me.

What also surprises me is how frequently I play with clothes. In my head, it's something I do only occasionally when I have time and energy -- but, checking my blog, I realize I dress up a lot. More than any activity in my current life besides work and motorcycle-riding. And I'm not even including outfits I wear but don't post here because they were disappointing. Yes, I have those...

I just checked and saw that I posted 41 outfits this year. Of that total, I'm pleased with 32 of them. That's a success-rate of 75%. Not bad for a novice. With modest pride, I'm showing you some highlights below. (I'm not including the mermaid tail because technically that's not an outfit.)

As some of you have helpfully noted, I'm beginning to develop a style. Certain designs and colors work for me and everyone agrees when that magic happens. Your feedback helps me identify when efforts succeed. Thank you for that assistance.

I hope we all continue to improve in 2016!

  1. Great choices, Ally. I really like the first three dresses as they exude classic style and give you a nice curvy shape. And showing some neckline really works on you. Happy new year! xox

  2. You chose some wonderful outfits here. Each outfit fits you so well and shows off your long and lean body.

My favs in order are the black dress with the sexy slit, the red suit and that last shot with the gorgeous pink, white and black dress.

We only learn through experimentation. Keep having fun!

  4. How did I miss that 2nd outfit...the stunning black dress?! (Or, if it's due to failing memory...how could I forget!?)
You chose some superb outfits to showcase your successful 2015. I still learn by trial and error too. The blog photos certainly help to see the reality of the situation where the mirror can sometimes be a bit more misleading.
Have a safe and Happy New Year, Ally! xo

  9. Wow 41 looks is some serious dedication... you should be proud of that alone. Nearly an outfit a week! It's helpful to look back at old photos of yourself when trying to figure out your personal style. Like you said, there are certain elements (clothes that show off your legs and collarbone!) that pop up that you may not realize until you actually see it for yourself!

Looking forward to what 2016 has in store for you. I have a feeling it will be great! xx

  10. I think red suits you very well, these earthy tones maybe not toooo much, but also white and pink as in the last picture :)
When I look back at my looks in like maybe 25% ... taste changes over time and thats fine I think. And fashion is always trial and error, isnt it :)?
Aaaaaaaall the best for the new year!!!!

  19. Those outfits are indeed ever so good. I had not seen that stunning black dress yet. Wow... that is gorgeous. I don't think I could look as good as this in such a dress. As for style development... I am still trying and failing. It is definitely not something I was born with. But trial and error and looking at many blogs helps me improve. Have a fantastic 2016 Ally.
