Unexpected Delight

Do you ever come home from work, tired and blue?  You check the mail and see only bills and junk?  That happens to all of us and it's disheartening.

Last night I returned home exhausted and glum.  I looked at the mail and -- hey! -- there's something good in it.  A letter from my friend Kathy.  Even better, she enclosed a ring made from buttons.  How cute!

Kathy's note and gift lifted my spirits.  She elevated my mood in a minute.  That's the power friends have.  For this reason, I send letters and gifts whenever I can.  I know everyone loves to receive friendly mail.

Here's the button-ring.  I've never seen one like it.  Have you?

I'm also wearing Urban Decay nail-polish.  The scorpion mug is the emblem of my car (Fiat Abarth).  When I learned the symbol of the Abarth is a scorpion, I knew fate wanted me to have one.  I'm a Scorpio through and through.

Do you ever send letters  or gifts in the mail?

  2. That button ring is adorable. And I think you have impeccable taste in nail polish. It's one of those things I never think of and never do, and I went "ooh." when I saw the color you picked. Urban Decay makes great stuff.

  3. Sending snail mail has changed my life. Sending and receiving gifts and letters can change my whole day sometimes. I'm actually a bit behind on my sending lately, but I'm trying to catch up.

What an awesome ring! I have actually seen some like that before. I considered making on myself, but never got any ring bases.

I also love your coffee mug. ;) Very bad ass.

  4. I have never seen a ring like that but have seen a necklace made from buttons which was really interesting ~And like Megan E says ... you're a great hand model!!!

I love sending snail mail (and receiving it of course!!!! and especially when I see an international post mark on it and it contains a special message from a special friend!!!!) and the problem nowadays is that our postal staff cannot keep their noses out of other people's business!!! When I received your card it had been opened ... obviously to see if there was anything inside worth acquiring for themselves!!!

  11. I call gifts like this unexpecting upliftings and adore both receiving and sending them. Life, let's face, isn't always a bed or roses by any means, and sometimes the simple act of receiving a letter and/or small present in the mail that you didn't know was coming is all it takes to set things right in one's world again - at least for a while. I'm so happy this ring did that for you and hope you get lots more unexpected upliftings in your mailbox in the future, dear Ally.

  12. That is a cute ring, what a nice surprise.
Unfortunatly no, i do not get anything in the mail, not even bills because the postal system here is non existant. If it existed and home delivered most of it would get lost on the way.
