The Not-A-Man's Jacket

When I have the chance to wear women's clothing, I rarely pick pants or jackets.  The reason is obvious -- why would I wear the same drab clothes I have to wear as a man?  Dressing up is a treat for me and I want to savor the opportunity with feminine frippery.

There are, however, exceptions to every rule, including this one.  Browsing the racks of my favorite thrift-store, I spotted a jacket that spoke to me.  "Ally!  Over here!", it called.  I gamboled over and saw what the fuss was about.  Not only does this beautiful jacket have striking polka-dot design, it sports hot pink piping along the edges.  It may be a jacket but it could never be mistaken for a man's jacket.

The Not-A-Man's Jacket makes its debut here, with matching dress and peep-toe pumps.  Whatever you think, this is not something you'd see in a Men's Room.  Then again, what are you doing in a Men's Room??

  1. The jacket is so feminine it looks great on you <3 and I love your eye for details- the jacket has some hot pink details in it, the exact same color as the dress, the lipstick and the shoes. Plus, the necklace harmonizes all 'cause it matches the polka dots!

    1. Thanks. And what you can barely see are my earrings which echo the polka-dot theme.

  2. What a beautiful jacket. It's incredible feminine with the polka dots, the pink trim and the general shape. I love it how you brought out the pink in the jacket and wore lots more pink! When clothes speak to you from across the store, there's just no choice but to buy them, right!? I also love it how you decide to wear such feminine outfits, definitely wonderful... Oh and I adore your necklace too.

  12. Out of topic here but you look really sweet in pink. I don't know sometimes when I see other people wearing pink they look tacky. Definitely not you.

    1. Okay, here it is... Because of my size and odd shape (for a woman), I frequently need to perform tricks on my clothes to make them look better. My jacket is too small to close and button, so I needed to find another way to hold the front parts closer together to give it normal structure.

I pulled the jacket together just under the bust and visually connected the 3-inch gap between the button and button-hole by tying those sides together with nearly-invisible fishline. It's an idea similar to what bikers do when their non-stretchy leather vests get too small: they add a chain to connect the front pieces.

  25. Not being a jacket girl I saw straight past the jacket to that amazing hot pink dress and the shoes literally jumped off the page and knocked me in the eyes!!!! You look gorgeous!!!! Oh and the jacket looks nice as well.

  26. Fabulous outfit! Oh my word! I love not only the colours and garments themselves, but how you've constructed this pretty, fashionable look. A long sleeved dress under a short-sleeved blazer is brilliant! I don't own short-sleeved ones, or I'd follow your lead in a heartbeat.

Have an awesome long weekend, dear Ally!
