It's Back!

I'm excited to announce that my favorite post of all time, The Prom Project, is being showcased on a cool online magazine.  The magazine, named "The Blind Hem", has interesting content on several subjects we care about.  It's fun to read.

The piece just went up -- here's the link.  Proof that good things never die!

  1. Ally, I think you reached a lot of adults' secret fantasy, to re-experience their prom in a better way, for whatever reason. Sometimes it seems so strange to me that a high school prom is such a right of passage for so many people, and so similar to a kind of emotional trauma when the dream doesn't match the reality, but living with two 15-year old teen girls reminds me that it's a huge, huge day in a young person's life. I still think Martini Prom Do-Overs could be the hot new party theme :)

  2. Woo! Congrats on the feature. I didn't get to do prom (as a girl or boy). I agree with Lynne. I think adults should totally get a "do over." I know for years Nashville had an 'alternative' prom, but that was still for school aged kids.

Re-reading your experience brought a smile to my face. =]

  6. I saw the post at Blind Hem and just smiled and thought "que linda" which is similar but not the same as "how cute" . I cannot tell you how excited I was to see the picture and that the writer was no other than my friend Ally Hummel :)

  7. What a wonderfully moving story. It definitely brought me back to my prom years (the "oh shit I have a pimple!" memory is still all too vivid, haha). I think it's great that you fulfilled this dream on your own terms. (And looked stunning while doing so...seriously, those pics are gorgeous.) Congrats on the feature!

  10. How wonderful! It's a great article, and I'm so glad more people are able to read it. You captured the pre-prom feeling perfectly--choosing the dress, planning your makeup, the anticipation, and the inevitable pimple! :)

  13. That's awesome that they featured your post, congratulations! :) You looked gorgeous in both those dresses. I didn't go to my prom and I wish I could recreate it. I've always wanted to have an excuse to wear a huge princess-like ballgown.

    1. The point of my post is: what's stopping us? I think you SHOULD do this simply because it's fun. You'll enjoy it immensely and that's justification enough for doing anything.
