Thousand Islands

My friend Aimee and I had a wonderful day yesterday.

We explored the Thousand Islands of St. Lawrence River near the east end of Lake Ontario. The area straddles the Canadian border and literally contains 1,864 islands.

We rode a boat from Alexandria Bay to beautiful Singer Castle and newly-restored Boldt Castle. A century ago this is where the wealthy spent their idyllic Summers.

I'd enjoy living in a castle on an island. :)

  1. What a cool place! I always assumed the Thousand Islands was just hyperbole!

Love your vintage bowling shirt, Ally!

    1. Thanks! Yep, there are 1,800 of them. Most have only one house on them. Look at this one -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_Room_Enough_Island

  2. Great post, sounds like you both had a fab time. The castle looks quite idyllic. I could so easily live in a castle like that myself especially on an island all to myself.

Cool photos Ally thanks for sharing them with us.

  3. Beautiful. My husband's dream is to live in a lighthouse. I've always wanted to live in a renovated silo so I guess they are both round so we could find a compromise lol

  5. That would be dreamy to hide away in an island castle - you'd have to invite your friends to visit!
