Last March I was riding my motorcycle through Pennsylvania and stopped in a town with the oddest name in America -- Punxsutawney. I bet if you close your eyes, you won't be able to spell it. :-)
Punxsutawney is the home of the famous groundhog named Phil. Today is his day in the spotlight. When I visited, the town was full of playfully-colored statutes of Phil. Here are some pics from that trip.
One day a year the world comes to see if Phil will predict an early spring. Over the past century plus he hardly ever goes with the early spring but for those suffering the long northern winters hope springs eternal. Pat
I love coming here, I just never know what I find. but I know I will like it. Poor groundhog is confused i think, 63 tomorrow and the 6 inches of snow Thursday.. ? xx, Elle http://www.theellediaries.com/blog/

Awww, Phil let us down this year! I'm really hoping that his 6 more weeks of winter prediction doesn't come true- I'm ready for spring!
