The Ladies Room

I went to The Ladies Room. No, not a bathroom, silly -- a consignment boutique.

While visiting Cape May, I explored and exhausted shopping opportunities in the center of town, then wandered outward. I was searching for thrift-shops which rarely can support high rents. I found one on the outskirts of town with excellent wares and low prices. I spotted this Liz Claiborne dress there for only $16 with original sales tags on it.

While a bit more conservative than my normal style, I like its elegance. And it fits me like a glove which is not common. The outfit is a nice occasion to show you my new white lace choker which I bought at Forever 21 (only $3.99). Chokers love old gals because they conceal our neck lines.  :-)

Do you ever shop on vacation?

  2. I adore this dress, but I think I'd prefer it without the choker. I find they are very tough to pull off, as they can emphasize a short neck, which I definitely have! Fab dress, Ally!

  4. Charming look! I do love the elegancy on you Ally! White choker is a very nice add here.
I rarely shop during my vacation, mostly because I prefer exploring and my company. I normally travel with my hubby and he's sensitive to smells which is an often in thrift shops.

  9. I don't find this dress very conservative actually. Cute, yes. And you can style it so many ways, I'm sure. As for chokers... no. Doesn't it ut make you feel as if you're being strangled?

  10. I love this dress, I agree , I don't find it conservative, as in boring, in any way. I looks like it has a sheer layer, and it a great print. Love it on you! I also like the choker , a nice add on to a great and simple outfit.
I shop wherever I go.. always.
someone has to shore up the economy, right? :)

  12. I think the shortness of the skirt and the flirty sheer layer adds a young quality to this dress. The floaty leaves are perfect for this light feeling. I originally thought they were butterflies. Definitely a keeper...and such a bargain! Shopping away from home can be such fun. Xo Jazzy Jack

  13. I love shopping on holidays- everytime you wear the item again, you get reminded of the (hopefully) wonderful time you had. Much better than useless trinkets! :-D

  14. I love the dress and you wear it well. I also like the shoes. They go very nicely with the dress and look just like a pair of pumps I picked up a few months ago from Payless.

The sheer double layer dress reminds me of one of my first favorite dresses and my first foray out into the real world. I had this dress back in the late 90s only mine was a dark blue with a similar but less over pattern under the sheer. I went out on Halloween weekend. I completed my blue dress with dark hose and heels, a black page boy cut wig, a black beret and a cigar and told folks at a bar that was having a Halloween contest that I was Monica Lewinsky.

    Thanks for reviving those memories.

  15. Hee hee gotcha! I love getting deals like this. I got a gorgeous almost new MK dress for $29 and it retailed for a few hundred. And yes this dress does fit you like a glove.
