The outfit started with two pieces -- a new skirt given to me by blogger-friend Maggie and a pair of red plaid flats. With those items in hand, I put on my blogger-cap and thought. The skirt is black (and white) and the shoes are red (plaid). Red and black is my favorite color-combination. With that germ of an idea in my head, I cogitated.
Wading through my closet, I pulled out a top I haven't worn in years. I retrieved some fun colored tights. I played with them and then did some ironing. In the past, I've worn wrinkled clothes out of laziness but you guys deserve better. You deserve ironed clothes.
Here we go. Are you as excited as me?!!
And, if it's not too personal, do you wear wrinkled clothes or go to the trouble of ironing?
Jaw dropped! Omg that skirt!!!! Ally, I'm in love with this whole look. The flats are perfect, the colors, the pattern mix. Magical balance has been struck! You look amazing.
ReplyDeleteI very rarely actually iron. Unless it's a deep crease in something. Otherwise I usually just wear my wrinkles.
AHHHHH! That shirt! Omg, that shirt is incredible. And I am so into the skirt and shoes, too -- great pattern-mixing ;)
ReplyDeleteI kind of tend to save all my ironing and do it once every month or two. I don't wear those items as often as I'd like, but I hate ironing and am really bad at it, so I just can't force myself to do it more often.
As a general rule, if it NEEDS ironing and NEEDS to be washed regularly, I don't NEED it. I'll iron something if it needs it right out of the wash but can handle 3-5 wearings without needing any care, but otherwise it can stay in the store.
ReplyDeleteAnd great work on the outfit! Taking an idea, working it through and loving the concept is hard! So many of my outfits never hit the blog because they just don't work right.
I absolutely love that top on you! And that skirt and those shoes are so fun (suffering shoe and skirt envy here).
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I do wear wrinkled clothes... I do enough ironing being a seamstress, I definitely don't feel the need to do some first thing in the morning before I head to work (when I'm quite incoherent)! My excuse is that they're usually cotton and have a busy print (or are t-shirts that didn't get folded straight out of the dryer and picked up some wrinkles that will come out by wearing them) so the wrinkles aren't 'noticeable'... maybe.
If something's wrinkled, I iron it. I have a lot of cotton clothes because it's warm here, and I really can't get away with not ironing. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a playful outfit! I really like the draping/bust detail of that top on you, and the striped skirt is pure fun. That bright lip is perfect on you as well. This outfit reminds me of Olivia, the children's book character - she also loves red and black. :)
great outfit! the detail on the top is gorgeous and yes to striped skirts and tartan shoes - it's a wonderful feeling when you pull items together and make something fabulous and you look fabulous, love the red lips too!
ReplyDeleteI iron, unless something has magically dried crease free! x x
Lovely! What a gorgeous match between your top and your tights. Isn't it great when you get something that goes perfectly with something you've had for years?
ReplyDeleteI like your theme of symmetry- the wraps on the top, the stripes in different directions on the skirt, the even # of bracelets on each wrist, and the plaid. :D
Oh yes, forgot to add: I'm bad at ironing, but my Ye Olde style shirts demand it, so I'm getting better at ironing everything that needs it after laundering, then hanging up carefully.
DeleteWhat a cute striped skirt! I am lazy when it comes to ironing, but if something is ridiculously wrinkled, then I will iron before I wear it.

Gorgeous skirt! Thanks for putting in so much effort for us!!!
ReplyDeleteWe fortunately have someone who does our ironing (I HATE ironing as I had to do a lot of it as a young girl!!!) so I never have to wear creased clothes.
I love this outfit!!! I especially love the shoes because I'm a plaid freak, but the whole ensemble is so fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd I used to be really good at ironing, but not so much anymore. I'm known to wear wrinkled stuff and hope that it smooths out!
wow - that red is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletei love this color too, once i had some red tights and stuart tartan ballerinas. but my favorite combi is with beige.
as a seamstress i have a lot to iron, so for the clothes i´m wearing i try to hang them strait after washing....
That is adorable! yes, sometimes I do wear wrinkled clothes due to laziness :(
ReplyDeleteAwww! I love love that skirt Ally. It's so cute just like you in this outfit. The top is totally darling with it's awesome neckline. I always ironing my clothes. Although sometimes they are wrinkled in the photos because we often shoot in my lunch hour and after a few hours on my desk, well there are wrinkles, tho. I just hate it when it happens.

Oh this is cute! I totally would wear something like this! :D Whenever I do the laundry, I toss the clothes that need to be ironed in a pile on my banister. It takes a week or so for me to get around to ironing them. But there are times when I just grab something from the pile and wear it, wrinkles and all.
ReplyDeleteThat is an AWESOME outfit!!!! You look fab!!! I'd love to wear it!!!! Ironing schironing, only if absolutely necessary but super rarely. Though I have been ironing my husband's shirts for work! X
ReplyDeleteEeeep! I love this outfit! Those shoes are to die for. :))) You should totally make some kitty ears and do an outfit post with them. :)
ReplyDeletegeez that's an awesome skirt and I love the cut of the blouse. So unique!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous outfit! I really like the two different prints you have going on :) Your skirt fits you like a dream.
ReplyDeleteAnd about ironing...I always make sure my clothes are perfectly ironed before I go. But there are times (although rare) where I don't iron. It's just something that bothers me. I have to do it otherwise I go insane ;)
xo
Love the outfit :)
ReplyDeleteI hate ironing, it's the worst chore ever............ my husband wears shirts for work so I am a good wife and iron those, but nothing else!
I've been wanting a skirt like that FOREVER! You're right, the plaid flats are magical, they tie it all together perfectly. As for ironing? My hubby irons everything he wears, I only iron if it looks like I've slept in it. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's my favorite color combination!
ReplyDeleteGreat color combo and I love that skirt!! funky top too.. I love the cross over details. You have a really awesome eye for both color and style. When are you coming to visit me and do an INTERVENTION??? hah hah
ReplyDeleteYour friends and I are scheduling a date. :-)
DeleteGreat colour combination and I adore your skirt.
ReplyDeleteNo my friend - I'm completely anti wrinkles - it drives me crazy as the day wears on that clothes become wrinkled and I work at ignoring that. I can't wear something if its wrinkled - unless its part of the fabric, for eg a pair of my jeans has wrinkles in them.
Have a happy Friday
I admit, I'm a lazy bugger. If it has wrinkles, sort it out tomorrow or style it out today
ReplyDeleteif there's one "chore" i hate doing, it's ironing...that's why 75% of my wardrobe never gets worn! i love the striped skirt, always wanted one of these. the stripes and plaid are a nice mix!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so wonderfully autumnal - the classic plaid, the red that calls to mind everything from fallen leaves to candy apples, and the midnight sky black. It's just the kind of pattern and colour combo I'd happily sort all fall and winter, too (and indeed, last winter I wore black, grey and red so much that at some point, I had to make a mental note to slip in a few other hues again, too, lest people started thinking that was all I owned!).
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend!
♥ Jessica
I sure am very excited about your lovely post and amazing outfit. I love the shoes. I have wanted tartan shoes for ages! I love everything about the outfit but the skirt is my favourite piece. It is the perfect design and shape...in relation to ironing, I'm very particular about needing to iron my clothes.
ReplyDeleteFabulous look, darling!
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt!

That shade of red really suits you:) And no...I never ever iron my clothes. I'm too lazy!
ReplyDeleteOMG, Ally! This is one of my favorite outfits yet. Soooo cute. You did such a good job putting this together. Everything looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteI do try to iron things that need it. If I have something slightly wrinkled in an area I know is going to wrinkle very easily by the seat belt anyway...I may forgo ironing and just imagine to myself that it was wrinkled that very day by the seat belt...so what are you going to do about that? No one would know the difference.
oooooooh, I love LOVE that top on you! The gathering is so pretty and the skirt gives it just the pop of fun that I've come to expect (and love) from you!

I always iron when I need to. I hate doing it, but I don't see the point of putting so much effort into my look and then looking sloppy.
ReplyDeleteThis skirt looks great on you! I'm so glad you like it. It fits really well, too, which I was a little worried about.
(BTW, the stripes are actually a dark blue. ;)
For me, clothes must be ironed.
ReplyDeleteI love this skirt Ally, it's a perfect piece and so on trend.
I love the clever draping of the neckline on that top. The whole effect is pretty and happy.
ReplyDeleteYou don't hear "cogitated" much these days :)
The top and tights match perfectly! I love the stripes and the fabric detail on the top. I never iron. Sometimes I'll hang my clothes in the bathroom while I shower. Otherwise my philosophy is that if I walk really fast no one will notice!
ReplyDeleteHa!
Deletei love how you match!
