On the off-chance that you'll extend an invitation, I went and bought a pretty dress. A black-and-white polka-dot shirtdress that crossed my path while I was in Kohl's trying to decide how to spend a free $10 coupon I got in the mail. The dress, normally $60, was on sale for $36 and, with my coupon, it cost only $26. Score!
I love the dress's wide skirt which improves my body-shape. And I can hear your voices saying, "Add a pop of color," so I'm accessorizing with red jewelry and a handbag. Last week, I bought a pretty yellow belt and yellow necklace which I'll add next time. Because the dress is black-and-white, the possibilities for styling it with bright colors are wide open.
What do you think? Am I invited to your party?
P.S., Yes, I know the dress is too tight and too short. It wouldn't be on an average-sized woman. Sadly, I'm not an average-sized woman and this was the largest one they sell. Please make allowance for my mastodonic magnitude and imagine the dress fitting better than it does. Thank you. :)
It looks adorable and cute nonetheless! :) Like the necklace as an accessory too! :) You are definitely invited to my party!

i really like the dress. it would be perfect for a royal wedding themed tea party (im obsessed at the moment)
ReplyDeleteHoly crap I love it!!! Like, I want to be a copy cat and go out and buy it. What brand is it? I might just happen to stop by Kohl's tomorrow. And I might just happen to buy this dress if I can find it...ahem. I like that it's too tight and too short. I hope it will fit like that on me, too. If I can find it, that is...
ReplyDeleteI love the hemline on this dress- perfect for an afternoon spot of tea! Red, black and white are my favourite colour combination so I'm sold!
ReplyDeleteThat looks SO CUTE! Polka dots are my favorite print ever. This dress is adorable and the bottom is really pretty. I love the way it sort of poofs out. I don't think it looks too small. I think the frilly bottom is actually really flattering for you. Also, the necklace is a great touch!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhMYYYYGooodnnesss! How could you be so sexy in this outfit?!!my jaw dropped..i love the dress, and I like how it fit you!--I don't think there's any prob w the size at all...and this is in fact very dressed for a tea party=)
ReplyDeleteConsider yourself invited! That dress is perfect for a tea party, and no way is it too short -- not with those legs!
ReplyDeleteI would totally invite you! You look Gorgeous and that Dress is Stunning! I really LOVE your accessorizing and you have the most Fabulous legs.
ReplyDeleteOf course you're invited!!! Especially now that we can wear our matching polka-dot dresses and colourfull accessories!! Congrats my dear - you look great!
ReplyDeleteIf only you were in Ottawa! There's a fabulous tea party going on today with guest Jeanne Beker. Pictures and report to come on 20 York Street. :) I think you look great. The dress doesnt look too tight. And I love the red you added.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a tea party with you :)
ReplyDeleteI look the dress is fantastic and it doesn't appear to be too tight or too short. I love that you hear our voices saying to add a pop of color... and you absolutely did it! The red is perfect.
You look wonderful.
Yes, I know the dress is too tight and too short. It wouldn't be on an average-sized woman. Sadly, I'm not an average-sized woman
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile Ralph!
Brett
Of course I would extend an invitation!!!
ReplyDeleteJust read your post re: dancing bear- love your honesty and transparency.
I would like to extend an invitation to my tea party. Would you come?
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous. And like others have said, I would wear that dress in a flash and might go buy it right away. I'm only 5'2" though, so it might be ankle length on me. haha.
xoxo,
Tracy
You're so right - the way the skirt flares is ultra flattering (and so feminine too)! The dress doesn't look too tight or too short to me.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to have a garden tea party! I said when we moved into our house...oh, SIX YEARS AGO that I was going to have one. Wait, I said that in my last home too... Hmm. I see a pattern here. In my defense, I'd have to pick up a lotta dog poop to make it happen. Anyway, I have always had visions of all my friends in Stepford Wife dresses as we sit around in the backyard sipping tea from vintage floral china cups. Sigh... Well, if I ever actually have one, hop the first plane down! :)
You would definitely be invited to my tea-party, where we are not judgmental about skirt length. : )
ReplyDeleteIt is annoying that that was the largest, however. Stores have such unrealistic sizing sometimes. Shopping with my larger friends was always depressing for them, and so unnecessarily so. Anyway, it looks fantastic with the red accessories!
Definitely invited! I love the cut of the dress and it doesn't look too short to me. It passes the fingertips test (as in it's longer than your fingertips when your arms are straight) so I count it as the perfect length.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are invited.... and I would love to see this with black tights you could open up some buttons and wear a tank underneath.
ReplyDeleteI love that dress and I love the look of red with black and white! If I had a tea party you would be first on my list to invite!
ReplyDeleteHi ShyBiker...Have been visiting for a while now - And I love the way you put your outfits together...I love this dress---Really pretty and it looks great on you....Luv n Bubbles
ReplyDeleteYou are more than invited to the party! And I say yes to that dress, it's sassy and fun and who says it's too short or too tight? Who makes up these silly rules that we follow? I say wear what makes you happy!
ReplyDeleteThat dress looks very cute on you. The advantage you have is that the longer the legs, the shorter the skirt can be without looking too short!
ReplyDeleteI hope you would not mind if I decide to one day copy this exact outfit for a tea party. I love it so much.
ReplyDeleteI like it better with the bigger bag though, for some reason. :)
