We Interrupt Our Normal Programming...

with this special announcement. I have COVID.

Yup, the coronavirus is still here. We pretended it went away but it hasn't. Someone gave it to me over the weekend and now I'm suffering. Vaxxed and boosted I'm protected against worst illness but it's still very bad. Severe headache pain over several days and 80% loss of vision in both eyes. One eye's sight has returned but the other is still only 50%. Scary stuff.

I'm old enough to qualify for the best antiviral medicine (Paxlovid) and it's supposed to speed up the recovery. Don't know when I'll be back to normal. In the meantime here are some photographs I took for you to enjoy.

Stay healthy.

  1. I'm glad to hear you were able to get paxlovid..my husband used it and recovered within 6 days including testing negative. My stepmom (who gave it to him) did not and she took weeks for recovery. Weirdly? My father and I didn't catch it from them at all.

All four of us are vaxxed and boosted. I had original covid in 2020.

I hope your recovery is quick and you have no long lasting effects. Ice packs were my best friend for both the fever and the migraine.

  5. Oh, no!! That is so scary that you lost some of your sight, Ally - I hope it comes back fully! Sending you good vibes for a speedy recovery, and gratitude for the anti-viral medication (which we don`t have in Canada).

Strangely, though, we do have a Mayfair Shopping Centre!

  6. I'm so sorry you got it! The eye thing is scary! Our school business manager had it last week and she said it hurt to move her eyeballs. Not heard the eye thing from anyone else!
    Get well soon! Kezzie x

    1. I had constant pain in my eyes the whole time and vision-loss is likely a result of that effect. It's slowly returning but not fast enough. Thanks, Kezzie.

  7. Oh geez Ally, I hope you recover painlessly! My brother had a mini-stroke in his early 30s that affected his vision permanently. My thoughts and love are with you.

  9. That sounds like a rough case of it. I had it last May and it was bad but only 24 hours. It seems to hit everyone differently. My husband and I had it at the same time but completely different symptoms.

    Fell better soon.

    1. Thanks. Yes, it hits differently at times. I had COVID a year ago and it was easy. This time, not so much.

  10. I'm very sorry to hear about this, Ally, and I'm sending the very best wishes from Prague. I'm keeping my fingers crossed - or, rather, "holding my thumbs," as we do around here - so you heal quickly and completely. Stay strong and take good care of yourself!
