New Shirt

Most men's clothing, to use a term popular among transwomen long ago, is drab. The clothes usually lack style and color.

I just found a terrific men's shirt from my favorite shirt-maker (Paul Fredrick). It's made of linen and, contrary to practically all men's shirts, has an asymmetrical design. It just arrived and looks great on me.

What do you think?

  1. I LOVE it, Ally! Ugh, I so agree about men's shirts - it's impossible to find interesting colours or details on them, especially when I'm mostly shopping second-hand. I'm off to explore that link - thank you!

Will we get to see a picture of you in the shirt? :)

    1. Well... I wore it to work today and didn't get a chance to take pictures. Now it's in the pile to go to the dry cleaners. As soon as it comes back in a week or so, I'll show you it on me. It looks GREAT!

  2. Very very cool shirt.

My husband (and me tbh) both have challenges with finding really cool clothes. I am still proud of the secondhand jelly fish print shirt I found for him several years back. It's very unique, and he's nearly worn it out.

The same brand (Modern Amusement, not a high end brand but unique) has done some really cool prints. Nothing else we've bought since quality is hit or miss.

Sounds like you found quality and style in one awesome shirt.

Personally in any fashion - I love asymmetrical designs. I accidentally ruined an asymmetric top I usually wear once a week yesterday. Some bleach must have been left in the drum of the machine.

Ah, well, seems like I should do some inspired ebay browsing.

I'd definitely like to also see how you wear this shirt!

    1. This shirt appeals to me strongly because its asymmetrical design is something I can't remember ever wearing before in men's clothing. Plus, linen is a wonderful fabric.

  5. Oooh, that is GORGEOUS!! I'd like to see you wearing it too!
I love embroidery on white linen or cotton- it's just so chic!
I agree about men's shirts. I've managed to find BBC a few fun shirts (such as one with budgies on) but work wear is more of a challenge!

  7. Ah, the blandness of the usual choices around shirts.... and then there's that beauty. What a lovely choice!

I don't know about you, but I find wearing a fancy - or even, pretty? - shirt helps me feel okay about who I am.

  8. Wholly agreed! While there are certainly exceptions out there, they are just that - exceptions. There's no good reason why well made, stylish men's attire needs to be so heavily populated by the "same old, same old" and high time this changed once and for all.
