Danger

Sharp knives are like motorcycles -- useful tools but inherently dangerous. They require full, constant attention.

My attention slipped this morning while making croutons, yielding a deep bloody cut. It'll be alright -- and taught me greater respect for danger. Which is particularly timely since I plan to ride my sportbike this afternoon at a spirited pace on challenging twisty roads. On the bright side, thank goodness it wasn't my throttle-hand!

Have fun today engaging in your dangerous hobbies.  :-)

  1. I've always been a little scared of motorcycles. My grandma was a nurse and she used to tell me stories about people who would come in after wrecking on their motorcycles. And when I was in my late 20s a friend of mine was killed while on his motorcycle - it was a freak accident, he was doing everything right, but his death still haunts me.

I dated a boy for about a minute in my young 20s that had one and offered to let me ride on it but I chickened out. And I guess I feel like the moment passed me up.

I don't know where I'm going with this! I guess I'm overly cautious, which yes, I am. Have fun flirting with danger my friend, and be safe!

    1. Yes, motorcycles are dangerous but they can be ridden safely. It's all in how you handle them. With training and experience, you're fine. I'd be happy to take you for a ride sometime. I've had dozens of passengers, all of whom started out scared and relax after two minutes of riding when they realize they're in good hands.

  2. Oh no! I'm very sorry you were injured, Ally, and am grateful it wasn't even more severe. May you make a swift, full recovery and never tangle with another knife blade again.

    1. Thanks, pal. I learned a lesson and will be MORE careful in the future. I never want to repeat this mistake.

  3. Ouch, be careful with knives, missy! I love motorcycles - I haven't ridden on one since my dad was alive (90s).

    1. Everything contains some measure of risk. You can be watching TV on your couch when a meteor hurls out of space and squashes you flat. :)

  5. Oh no! I hope you heal quickly. There is often danger in many of the things worth doing in life.

My dangerous hobby has become deep cleaning the apartment. Sadly I'm having repeated allergy reactions from both the things I'm cleaning up and the cleaners themselves.

I need to wear better protective gear but i get started cleaning before I'm even thinking about it. And now? Itch itch itch!
