Fashion Keychain and Small Pleasures

I savor small pleasures. Often troubled by larger stuff (like gender and work), I extract as much joy as possible from little treats popping up in my life. Like seeing a bird suddenly appear outside the window or browsing thrift-stores for overlooked gems.

Two small pleasures arose this week. Not sure if you'll understand but let's see...

I was buying a new pair of Vans sneakers at the mall (I got the b/w checkered ones). At the register, I saw a cute keychain -- it's a tiny red sneaker made from the same materials as real shoes (canvas and rubber). I snagged and incorporated this trinket into my daily life. It makes me smile every time I touch it.

What kind of keychains do you use?

A second pleasure is a shirt from my favorite motorcycle-gear company. It's the stiffest, heaviest shirt I've ever seen. It's as stiff as wood and heavy as stone. They say it'll soften with wear and washing, which is something that'll be fun to watch (and feel). The shirt's style is very cool -- retro working-class worker, like what train engineers used to wear. The manufacturer is named "Prison Blues" which suits the style. I plan to wear this beauty often and treat it like an old friend.

What small pleasures are in your life?

  1. I love that keychain! I also think it's cool that you can be professional during the day and still have a little reminder of your fun side. It's definitely the little things that bring us happiness. :)

  2. Little things make me the happiest too. I love the sneaker! My latest small pleasures have been pins (fight the power emoji fists and fake news) and a baby Groot bobblehead from the movie Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

  3. I totally understand!

My keychain is a simple ring with a small flashlight attached to it. I added a wrist strap to is as well.

I try to carry my camera with me (usually in my purse). Whenever I see something I like, I grab a pic. Love to look at the pics I've taken.

    1. It's so smart to carry your camera with you. We never know when a beautiful scene will appear in front of us.

  4. Funny thing. I never cared for keychains, I used whatever I had on hand... a souvenier keychain, Hello Kitty doll, a rope, or something with an ad on it. Then, last year I was gifted what I consider an expensive key chain (over 40) and i began to notice them more. Mine is just an enamel flower for home keys and the car keys have a heart one I bought for 3 bucks at the drugstore.

  5. So cute! I love the little shoe! On my keys right now I have a keychain a friend gave me that has a quote from Anne of Green Gables. And a beer opener as well. Cause that's how I roll, lol.

  6. Love the new shirt, I am sure it will soften with time.
How fun to add small items to your life that add brightness!
I have been enjoying wearing some recent gifts, because they are special , full of sentiment. And I always leave time in my day to marvel at nature and something kind that a stranger has done...

  7. I always say it's the little things! Mine are mostly beauty-related. Currently I'm loving this champagne-scented Vaseline lip balm - so decadent!

  8. I definitely agree that one should savour the small pleasures. How cute is that key ring! Mine is a small wooden Welsh lovespoon, which reminds me of my holidays in Wales, and therefore makes me happy! xxx

  12. That reminds me of my son - he has severe OCD and he clips things make him happy to his school bag. His grade 2 teacher bullied him for being "different" so on top of every day stressors, he has to deal with his number one fear of school being scary. These mementos on his backpack bring him comfort. He has Lego, emojis, that time we went to Ottawa, of course his little hockey skate...
So when he's overwhelmed, he goes to his locker and looks at his things.
Also tucks a rock in his pocket and I have the other rock in my purse. That way he knows that we are always together when we are not.
I love this post. We all need to have our happy especially in times like this.

    1. I get it! I have a little minion-doll attached to my backpack. And your rocks story melts my heart. Physics just discovered that all things are connected, even at a distance.

  13. Small pleasures are the best! I like your little keychain.
I can bet you would also love my favourite small pleasure. When I get home from school, I like to open a bag of crisps or salty snacks and eat them with a book and a cup of tea!X

  15. Love your key chain and that shirt is gorgeous.

My home keys have a little girl that my son's girlfriend got for me on a cruise and my car keys have a key ring which reminds me of my trip to New Zealand last year and reminds me that I am looking forward to returning on 16 December.

Little pleasures make a day brighter.
