  1. Love that hemline on you - really flatters your already fantastic legs. I'm liking that wig on you, too - it really has a beachy, Colbie Caillat feel to it. :)

  2. I love the boy and girl clothes challenge. You did both in amazing style. Love the poses too.

And thank you for the kind remarks on my posts...

  3. i like the boy outfit more - only because the girly one is too naked for my taste...i have the rule "cleavage or legs" (except at beaches or such places)
would wear some opaque (black?) leggings with that dress.
for reading: i don´t like romantic novels. give me a classic criminal story please :-)

  5. The colour and hemline are very flattering. A little gold shrug would be cute with this too.

  6. Honestly, I would love to see you with wig and breasts and "menswear" with a feminine cut. Tight pants, a jacket with a slightly pinched waist, and a low-cut cami under the jacket. Long dangly earrings. Your height would be a great asset for this look.

Especially for valentines (but really, every day), I wouldn't vote for either/or. You would look so fab in a femmey version of menswear!

Alternatively, throw a cropped moto jacket on over that dress and slip on your riding boots and some dark patterned hose. Mmmm yummy...

    1. Interesting ideas. They never occurred to me, but would be fun to try. Thanks!

  7. Also, check out that second photo in this post. Your face is absolutely radiant. And damn, you look so young!

Furthermore, you have the most distinctly feminine attribute... armgina.

  8. That dress looks amazing on you! It also looks a lot like the dress I wore for my senior prom! :)

  9. Still loving that wig. I love how you accessorized this dress, enough but not too much. The sparkly crystal bangle really brings out the sparkle in the dress.

  10. It's very nice on you, very nice cut but I couldn't wear it, I'd be nervous about the wrap over bit!! x

  12. I agree with the other commenters--you look fabulous when you're showing off your legs! Red is one of my favorite colors to wear.

  13. I've not been reading your blog long and I'm struck at how much more at ease you seem in these photos.

You asked us to compare your boy and girl outfits for Valentine's Day and this outfit is my pick. You seem more radiant dressed as a woman - happier. As someone who is completely comfortable in their own skin I don't pretend to understand the complexities of being transgender, but seeing you today and yesterday was a tiny 'ah-ha' moment for me. Thank you for sharing your life on this blog. It's wonderful to 'meet' and learn about new people on this crazy thing we call the internet.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you, Lisa. What you grasp is correct. A wave of rare euphoria comes over me when I can "be myself." In male clothes, I'm performing a role; acting out an inauthentic self. I'm usually grumpy from having to do that chore. During the brief moments when I can be my true self, joy radiates out from my heart and I can't hide it. Nor do I want to.

  14. Oh, wow! Fab! Love the wrap-like skirt on that dress. The jewelry and shoes are perfect compliments (you're always so good with the accessories), and let the dress do it's thing without overwhelming it.

  15. Wow! That is a gorgeous dress and you wear it well. I think I would be a little bit scared of that rise in the hemline at the front. What happens when you sit down? Is it safe to sit? Or is this a dress for standing around looking gorgeous in?

    1. The latter! Seriously, one of the benefits/drawbacks of being me is that I don't face the real-world practicalities that you and other women do. I wish I did, but since I don't, I might as well take advantage of that. My clothing can be and often is theoretical -- designed for purely visual display, not the realities of life. For example, I often wear shapewear and recently wore a romper -- I can't begin to imagine what going to the Ladies Room in those garments would be like. Yowww...

    2. I have to say that I love how you really reply to everyone. I know that takes time and effort but I certainly appreciate and enjoy it. It's still so amazing to me that we can connect with people we will probably never meet in person, and that we can meet great people online like this.

I have not worn a romper since I was a child and they were indeed a challenge even then. I think mine had zippers. I also had bodysuits that looked like a well tucked in blouse. They had snaps at the crotch.

Standing around and looking gorgeous is a concept you have mastered! Happy Saturday, Ally.

    3. Happy Saturday to you, too, Shawna.

Blogging at its best is a conversation so I do my part to promote it. I don't have in real-life the kinds of friendships I can have online (because I'm shy and it's hard to explain myself) so this opportunity is a rare treat for me.

  16. Very becoming! This is such a flattering style of dress on you. I wish I looked 1/10th as great in spaghetti straps as you do (my upper arms are not, by any stretch of the imagination, one of my body's strong suits).

I love that you're getting in the spirit of St. Valentine's already - I am as well, as all my fave pink and red pieces, along with my festive novelty jewelry, comes out to play this month from today onward.

  17. Oh, I love the subtle glitter in the dress and how the rhinestone bracelet enhances that glitter. You look wonderful! And, seriously, this hair color is great on you!

  18. Hey pretty lady! It's been far too long since I've been able to comment, but I've been keeping this post because, well, I had to comment! What I love the most about your male/female outfits is seeing how radically different your tastes are: your "man" clothes are conservative. Your "woman" clothing shows creativity and adventure. It's fascinating to see how these two people share (or struggle against each other, I'm sure, depending on the day) one body!
It makes me wonder if you'd find dressing as a man for your day to day life less onerous is you had the opportunity to more creativity -- why not wear a three piece suit, with a coloured shirt, and a contrasting, bold tie? There may be a legitimate reason, but it makes me so sad, week after week, seeing your tweets that you're desperate for the opportunity to dress up and do a photo shoot, but work is bogging you down. Why not bring a little Ally to the work week?
And I must say, I love this hair -- it's the most flattering cut and colour on you!
