Ooooh gorgeous!!! I adore cardinals. Personally I love summer and hummingbirds because I can get right up close to them around the feeders. My itty bitty camera isn't much for zoom, but I love nature shots!
How delightful. You lucky gal - I'm sure you're having a wonderful time playing with your new lens.
I find the expression the 'dead of winter' so interesting - because in reality - there's really so much going on underground that its anything but dead ... ;-)
I'm sure you're looking forward to spring after the wretched winter you've had so far. I couldn't believe how cold it was the two days after Miz T's wedding - brrrr - haven't felt that kind of cold since Germany.
oh wow, I want that lens too! I would have needed it very much when I saw a fox on Saturday. unfortunately it was too far away and I'm not very happy with the photos I got. but your picture here is beautiful!!
I was always told that cardinals are a omen that you're going to have guests visit your home soon. As a kid I believed it but never had proof that it was true but even still now when I see one, I can't help but think, 'shoo, bird! My house is filthy! No company today!'
It truly is! Though we may very well have them here on the west coast (ornithologist or avid bird watcher I am not), it took moving back east to Toronto before I saw my first cardinal in person. It was perched atop a high street light over looking a wide multi-lane street and very nearly took my breath away. Their vibrant ruby hued plumage is gorgeous to the point of inspiration!
Aww....what a beauty. I always try to take pictures of wild birds in my backyard. Cardinals don't live in this part of the US, but I wish they did! They're brilliantly colored and so cute :)
Thanks for sharing this picture! I'm a crazy bird lady, so I appreciate posts like this :)
Ahh, what a wonderful capture! :)
